New Car... Couldn't wait for Toyota

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've been on this forum. I could no longer wait for Toyota to release the FT-86, so when I graduated college I went out and replaced my crappy Cavalier. Don't worry, I still dig the FT-86 a lot, such a beautiful car! Nevertheless, I picked up my Genesis Coupe in October and am loving it! So I decided its about time to share some pics and start talking on the FT-86 board again. Enjoy!

Car: Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 - Silverstone Silver
Mods: Not much yet, other than a K&N filter, Strut Brace, and some LED footwell lighting. Getting some CF pieces soon + reflash, CF SRI, Luxon Sway Braces, Rims/tires, exhaust... basically the bolt on works!

Mind the winter tires/rims, its cold here now.

Or you just wanted a new car and couldn't wait, lol.

Interesting. Glad you're enjoying it.
Weird choice on the wheels to be honest. I mean, it doesn't seem like much of an upgrade to me.

im guessing he didnt want to spend too much on a set of wheels for his winter tires that's all.

either way congrats on the genesis its a slick car!

Lol, you got it man. Its winter and snowy here so I picked up some Hankook iPikes on 17s. Skinnier tire with a taller sidewall for the winter. They are just cheap alloy rims.

For summer rims I'm looking at 275/35 19 in the rear and 245/35 19s in the front, not sure on rims yet so can't decide offset, but they gotta be tight!

Yeah, my old car wasn't gonna make it through winter, needed too much work to justify keeping it for another year. So I put it down, and bought my GC.

Can't wait till spring to start some modding and perhaps some lapping at the local track!

Hey congrats on the new car. I know a few people with GC's and they look so bland until you mod the car. Anyway, I hope the car keeps you happy

There we go! That's the answer to the question I was going to ask next. I was going to ask why you didn't just buy winter tires for the stock wheels. It's all good.

FYI: I'm not used to the cold, so I have no winter knowledge. So for me, there are no stupid questions regarding anything winter related. :happy0180:

Yes indeed sway braces, they just look cool + there's nothing wrong with increased stiffness (that what she said!). For example (from a fellow GenCoupe member):

Picture those, but Kawasaki Green, to match the strut brace. Its actually a pretty cheap mod to do, less than $300 I believe.

As for that picture in the previous post, yeah thats a pretty good stance. I'm not a fan of the "hella flush" look with excessive camber. But I do believe a drop is necessary when putting bigger fatter tires on, keeps that ugly wheelgap at bay lol.

Thanks for the kind words though!

Yep, sorry I meant I don't like "hella flush" in general, not stipulating that the GC pictured was like such lol. I would like a setup like what is pictured, nothing excessive, just good looking.
