so on the NA FA20 you would see no benefit of the AFR being closer to 13?

Yeah that's it. Disclaimer here is that don't do this with overly advanced timing and don't do it in tall gears. A run in 2nd or maybe 3rd under watchful eyes should be safe for a time or two, it is a short run in those gears. Then watch the learning trims to make sure that it didn't change stuff on you.

Every car is a little different, but generally more often than not we make more power at 12.5 than 13 NA. That varies with RPM though.

Hhhhmmm I had always thought that corn needed to be a point rich not a point lean from pump gas.

My wrx was tuned 11.2-11.0 on pump since I had a top mount always thought a good front mount would allow half a point leaner and make more power.

You have to be careful here. Ethanol is always going to be "richer" in the literal sense of air to fuel ratio than gasoline because its stoichiometric point is richer. However, it can require less "enrichment" (in terms of lambda) because it has a cooling effect and less tendency to knock.

Just for the hell of it.
Here is my first log from my car:

Red & Orange are EGTs and blue is innovate WB AFR.
You can even see where I shifted.

It isnt a BRZ, but it IS a 4-cyl, 2.0L boxer engine (aircooled vintage 71)...
