Of course. All I'm saying is that, relatively speaking, .5 points for just springs vs free sway and bbk is does not constitute as 'fair'. When those mods obviously give as much an improvement in performance as the springs do. You guys have different perspective. Okay. I voiced my opinion. Ultimately you guys decide the rules, I have no say. That is all.
Once and if I do eventually instal sways. I'm not going to argue about the point value. Why would I? More performance for my car without penalty, why the hell not? |

I want you to prove for me a BBK improved performance. These are the points you'll need to prove to convince me:
- Same tire compound - Same rotational inertia - Similar skill driver - Similar conditions - Same car Same for sways. Find me a single datapoint for Sways that show that the car is faster with than without them, using a driver that is consistent. John Hotchkis got slower, after putting on his sways. Ouch. |

Fair enough. While I'm certain I will personally be able go faster and more aggressive with a slightly larger from bar, my pace ranges from slow to very slow. Hardly consistent. So that's out the window. Hotchkis bars are way too stiff, IMO.

So which sway is the magical sway(s) that make the car faster?

It wouldn't be magical anymore if I told you, would it?
![]() Nah, it's physics it's only 'magical' if you assume it only does one thing when in fact it does more than what you think or say. Just like those magical BBKs.... Joking aside, I will have to 'plead the fifth' on this, for the same reasons I stated in previous posts.

Regarding underbody panels. Im assuming theh are free. But if someone were to make a diy panel for the rear under the muffler section would that constitute anything?
Im thinking just a flat piece of abs not extending out past the bumper in any way, but just to cover a hole left by a muffler delete to avoid a parachute effect. |

This means: Unless you have a custom underbody flat tray, everything else is "free" since it has no effect on aerodynamics that would constitute an advantage. -alex Last edited by mav1178; 02-26-2014 at 06:18 PM. |

If diffuser connects to underbody tray in continuous motion, it's applicable. If not, it's not a big deal. Visual representation: https://www.google.com/search?q=unde...w=1600&bih=813 -alex |

I should add:
□ 0.25 - Level 1 Rear Aero: rear diffuser □ 0.50 - Level 2 Rear Aero: full underbody tray with diffuser Level 1 would be something like the Driveway Labs rear diffuser, where it actually directs airflow from before the muffler to the exit of the bumper. Level 2 would be what I described above. Underbody tray connecting to rear diffuser (i.e. Driveway Labs) with continuous airflow management. Aside from dedicated race cars, I have yet to see an "average person" FRS/BRZ driven on the track with level 2 aero. -alex |

Now I think about it... A skid pad and stopping distance test is simple enough. Plus it does not require the skill of racer X or stig to conduct the tests. Just the parts, some time and a empty lot. hmm...
