My FR-S has a Phantom kit. It has about 14,000 Miles on it.
The transmission was bad from when I received it. The fifth gear syncro is bad. It grinds every time you go into fifth. I think somebody destroyed it when they test drove it. When I got the car it had over 300 miles on it. Hard test drive miles I'm sure. I learned to just skip fifth gear. When I took it in for it's first service, the manager drove it and confirmed it was bad and notified Toyota. It took this long for them to decide to just change the entire transmission. Do you think they'll notice the compressor under the hood?

I don't see how they wouldn't. Why didn't you just put it back to stock or do the warranty work before installing?

Exactly what I was thinking.

They will certainly notice it. But then again if your transmission was bad already they have to replace it. I'm sure they'll note that you had the phantom installed. I wouldn't trust the stealership with my car and it is not FI at the moment.

I don't think he will have a problem because they noted this problem long long before he installed the phantom.

I always go back to stock because it only takes 5 minutes and then they can't say anything in the future

When I talked to the service manager I told him I wanted to get this problem resolved before I went crazy on after market stuff and my claims would be denied. He told me that he doesn't care if I turbocharge it or supercharge it or whatever. He said that he knows what this car is for, I know what this car is for and Toyota knows what this car is for. No matter what I do he said he would back me up. He said he looks forward to driving it with the ESC. When he called me to say that the transmission was ordered, he said, You know, we have to remove the transmission so if there is anything else you want us to do while we're at it let me know. I told him that unfortunately I ordered my header a month ago but I won't get it until next month. Otherwise I would have gotten my header installed for free!
I hope you all have a service department that is as understanding as mine is.

The shop foreman at mine drives an FR-S and we swap links to aftermarket parts. I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Took my car to the deal for service with the kit still installed to replace a shot ignition coil late last year. No issue with claim, the tech saw the unit and requested I put him in touch with Rob to be a beta tester for his infinity G25. . . .

All in all I think each experience will vary according to the dealer.

Stop by my shop this spring, I'll install the kit....~ 30mins.

It's not just a tune, there is also some very good telemetry/ logging to enjoy.

Boost curves:

Blue line - M45 PD blower only.
Green line - TQ250 & M45 blower together.

Ah you're local, sweet! I just ordered the OFH/OFT - will order the SC shortly.

If I want to run all winter, is there a beefier starter battery option that still fits under the hood? 260CCA seems to work in -30.

I have a beefier battery, i think it is just a touch lower than the stock for CCA but mine has started fine even after sitting out in -30C overnight.....i guess fine is not a absolute term.....it started.....yes it was pissed to all high hell that it was asked to start and run but it did it in about 4 to 5 cranks(not attempts to start but rather the fourth rotation of the starter)

Update: Spent some more time running in the new batteries (2nd dump pack) and Rob was right, they perform better after some good cycles. I also swapped in the TQ250. Very good performance. Compared to single dump pack with TQ300, the dual dump pack/TQ250 combo seemed to build boost quicker and felt just as strong. And recharging rate was phenomenal. Before I could get to the point were I was hitting the low voltage warning/fault with the single dump/TQ300 combo during HARD backroad driving. The kind of backroads you only find here in the farm country Now voltage stays very well controlled and regulated. I'm impressed! Dynos to come soon....

Cheers

Big difference on the tq300 vs tq250 on the dual packs?

Also making me want to setup the dual packs now.... Only need 1 more battery since I have an extra sitting around.
