Best in-car SLR camera mount?

I've been trying a few mounts and they're all too buzzy or loose to get good stable footage with my A65. I need something beefy like maybe the Ram mount triple suction cup base, but I was curious if there are any rock solid bases out there people have used with good results.

I've used their suction mount and also their roll cage mounts before, both are great.

I've got a suction cup mount like that. The screw lock down is too wobbly for my heavy DSLR. Works great for my Contour+ or GoPro, though.

What direction do you need the camera facing? I'm guessing you want to use your DSLR to capture a wide view out the front windshield. What's stopping you from grabbing some square tube with a few holes drilled out to mount on the headrest pins and a rubberized mount for the camera base?

There is a weight limit to these, I've found multi-suction mounts to work better with a heavier DSLR.

I used this previously for my camcorder, back when there was no cheap digital video recording available.

I use a sticky pod for my DSLR, suction on the passenger window. I also use it on the outside as well.

GoPro suction mount vs my old IOPort Racing SLR mount.

It should be noted that these types of mounts are very common in professional photography fields.

Some examples:

They often hold upwards of 6+lbs. Plenty enough for most DSLR + decent lens.

That's probably exactly what I want. The metal base on that mount looks like it'd be rock solid on the back window of the STI.

I could easily rip out a square tube piece to mount on the BRZ headrests, but I'd like something that'll work in the STI too. Back window is the easiest to mount a cup and it lets me focus on the shifter and pedals for when I do a 'how to drive manual' video this spring. I'll probably do the same for my motorcycles.
