Ptuning tow hook camera mount

Hi all, I am actually a GTR owner and soon to be BRZ owner. I saw that Ptuning produced a tow hook camera mount of the GoPro and I contacted them to see if they had one for the GTR. They did not at the time, but they were kind enough to make a prototype of me and I tested it this past weekend at Laguna seca.

Fitment- Spot on, my only complaint is that the thread that goes into the bumper is a bit tight. It is the correct size (24mm), but its a little tight. They said they will correct it in the final production model

Tow hook- very functional

Camera mount- AWESOME fitment. works well and never loosed even up to 130mph as the track

Overall, I would highly recommend this product

Here is a video from the camera

I apologize about how the pic showed up. I don't know how to edit them

Thanks for posting the video. Looks like you had decent weather for the track this weekend. We're still freezing our butts here on the east coast.

1. Do you sell just a tow hook too? Something less expensive than the Cusco?

2. Do you have a mount for an igloo case (the one for the iphone). I have the igloo case and would love to mount it this way.

3. Is the thread the same on the GTR and BRZ/FRS?

1) We do sell a complete tow hook kit for the front and rear tow bolt location on the BRZ and FR-S. The entire kit is comprised of CNC machined billet steel componets that are black zinc plated. The price is comparable to the cast steel tow hook from Cusco. But main difference, is that with our tow hook, you have the option of adding on a POV/Gopro camera mount or you can also use the tow bolt supplied with the kit to mount the POV/Gopro camera without the hook. This same tow bolt is also supplied with our license plate relocation kit, which again can be converted to a tow hook or camera mount with the add-on options.

2) I'm not familiar with the igloo mount, but if it has a threaded at the bottom of the case to allow you to mount the igloo case on a standard camera tripod, then yes, we have a mount to fit this.

Front 1/4" tripod thread camera:
http://www.ptuning.com/subdir/itemdetail.cfm?PartNo=PTP%2DEXT%2D15008%2DSTD&Make Code=scion&ModelCode=fr%2Ds&ModelYear=2013%20All&M odelDesc=FR%2DS

Rear 1/4" tripod thread camera:
http://www.ptuning.com/subdir/itemdetail.cfm?PartNo=PTP%2DEXT%2D15009%2DSTD&Make Code=scion&ModelCode=fr%2Ds&ModelYear=2013%20All&M odelDesc=FR%2DS

3) The tow bolt thread on the GTR is completely different than the BRZ/FRS, but the components (tow hook, camera mount, license plate relocation) that we supplied with the car-specific tow bolts are all interchangeable. So if you have a GTR and a BRZ, you can move the components from one car to another as long as we make a tow bolt for the vehicle.

For example if you purchased a complete PTUNING GTR tow hook kit for your GTR and you also purchased a PTUNING license plate relocation kit for your BRZ and you want to mount a Gopro camera or your igloo camera, you only need to buy the camera mount add-on kit that can be used on both vehicle since they will be mounted a PTUNING-designed tow bolt.

Here's a list of the Gopro and standard 1/4" tripod-mounted camera mount (complete kit and add-on kit) for the FR-S/BRZ:

I made one of those for about $10 in parts. It works fine but its hard to turn on when you are in the car, and you don't want to fit any cones with it.

I have the BRZ version. Very good quality, a little worried about cones although that's pretty far inward and would require a decent screwup.

Tow hook mount FTW. Low to the ground to give you that sense of speed. Plus it is a solid mount to minimize shaking. A suction cup mount in the same location would have more shaking.

Fast shipping, thanks! Very solid built. I could not find another solution in the market that can do tow hook and camera both in one. (or 3 in one if license plate too) Excellent camera angle. You guys should consider a discount for people buy 2 hooks or the whole set up.

Thank you for the positive feedback. We will look into a package deal. We also offer the rear tow hook/camera mount setup as well in case you want to get a rear shot
