Techniques for going up curbs on a lowered BRZ/FRS??
My previous car (accord) I had lowered about 2 inches and I would be able to get the proper technique down to not scrape the bumper when I entered curbs. I would drive in at an angle and once the wheel hits the curb I would proceed to turn the wheel so I can get in. My BRZ is lowered about an inch and a half and I tried using the same technique, it doesn't scrape the bumper however it seems to scrape under the engine area and the traction dash light flashes repeatedly. Since then I found that I was able to go straight up curbs without the angled drive in technique and still clear the bumper as well as under the engine but I'd be within a few mm to scraping the bumper. I'd like add a lip but my bumper will definitely not clear then. What are some techniques you use to get your lowered/slammed twin into a curb without scraping anything?
![]() 2/17/14: Thanks to those who gave me good inputs. I'm still a little stumped in why my bumper will clear but something else under the car scrapes even when I go in at the slowest speeds and the lowest acute angle I can get it. I jacked up the car on the oem jack to as much as I can get it but it's still hard to tell what I'm scraping. I know at least a few other people who are lowered knows exactly what I'm talking about so I'd appreciate some comments! Last edited by Zechs21; 02-17-2014 at 02:42 PM. |

Just angle as if your car was slammed, then you won't have to worry about breaking anything.

The most effective technique to get over bumps without scraping the bottom of a car is to leave enough clearance. You can't have your cake and eat it to. Well, there's always bags.

its all about the angle. i really dont see how you can scrape anything or why the traction is going on

Sounds like you're three wheeling it at some point which will cause traction control to flash since one wheel is no longer in contact or at least full contact with the ground.

Sounds right. I try to come in with a lowest angle to the entrance as possible but sometimes I still scrape the bottom. I think it's because the engine is mounted so low. Looks like I'm just going to have to fill the curb gap with some concrete mix..
