I was born in San Diego, raised in Houston, and married to a Mexican. I thought snow was a myth or was some kind of Hollywood trickery(sarcasm btw). All I can say is, I miss the South.
There's an episode of Spongebob where this squirrel sings about being in the ocean and remembering Texas. Same concept. |

Snow tires win every time when it's colder than 45F, or in snow, or on ice...wouldn't have it any other way...was able to drive around in NE every single day during recent bad weather. My cars have spare sets of wheels and only see summer and winter tires. Extra expense for a spare set but your car or life may be on the line...

Too be honest, I don't even know if I have on summer tires or all season tires. Just bought the car a month ago. Would dealers here put on all-season tires? I didn't take a chance this week. Got home Monday night and kept the BRZ parked until today. -Z |

i live in pittsburgh and DD the brz. the primacys are SUMMER ONLY tires and are not meant for temperatures below 40F. That being said the compound gets too hard and the tread pattern is not what is needed for snow. I drive to work in 2-3 inches of snow commonly and never get stuck. Keep in mind this is traversing western pa geography which includes rolling hills. I drive on Ultra Grip ICE WRTs. They work excellent.

I like when people drive in the snow with bad tires (for snow). Makes me feel like a rally driver passing them but in reality im just doing 50 in a dusting on the highway but they are doing 20 with their hazards on.

Lesson learned? Don't drive in snow without snow tires. This video looks like a pretty normal occurrence for us up here

I agree I still find with my Michelin X ice to still be VERY tail happy, and with a slight touch of the throttle it likes to slide.
I feel for the guys who haven't seen snow in forever/ever. My first real outing with the FRS I got stuck in a snow storm (with snow tires) and on the untouched roads I found the tail to be constantly kicking out, which I found a little scary. And I have driven a RWD supra in the winter with no nannies lol. Since then I have become quite comfortable with the FRS in the snow and find it is a blast to drive in. |

or ![]() lol im too much of a hoonagin to not use improper throttle when it snows lol in the rain aswell... i remember the first time i almost went sideways on the free way at 55mph when i went over the painted lines and my tires still had 60% life in them... So i proceeded to the closest drift track and burnt them off in 20 minutes time and put summer tires on the car lol...

![]() In the meantime, be careful out there. Try not to drive in the snow if possible.
