There are still good people out there
So as most of you might know already, the Northern Virginia area got hit with a little snow storm the other night. I was working evenings when the storm kicked in at the end of my shift. They told us they had rooms and beds for us at the hospital if we got snowed in, and my wife was already told she needed to stay at her job because no one would be coming in the next day. I said 'f' it I wanna make sure she's ok and not by herself. So the video basically starts out with me struggling to drive through the snow on my way to my wife. Near the end of the video is what I really want to showcase, as it's a human helping out another human in their time of need. Holding the door open for someone is an infinite act of kindness in my book, but this guy really went out of his way to help me out. I can't thank him enough.
TL;DR I suck at driving in the snow; there is still hope for the future [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XoUSenZ370"]20140211-12 - YouTube[/ame] |

Great to see.
Made me happy that there's still good in people.Glad you're also safe, looks quite scary out there with all that ice. Side note, how does the beauty behave in snow/ice? |

She handles like shit. T/C usually kicks in and saves my life, but I have to be wary of the throttle. I'm on stock Primacys so they're really not meant for snow. People with snow tires should chime in.

I couldn't agree with you more! Compared to my 2007 Civic I used to drive, this car is a lot harder to drive in the snow/ice. I dunno how many times my car slid sideways on my way to work this morning...

So don't take this the wrong way when I say, it's stupid to drive on summer tires in the snow. It's not just you, I've seen it a number of times on these forums, but it's an easy way to hurt yourself or someone else. Not to mention that good samaritan probably wouldn't have had to get sandblasted by dirty snow trying to help you get free.

I feel your pain.. I backed my car out of my garage.. 3 feet onto the driveway, a slight incline.. And I got stuck.. How embarrassing it was getting stuck in my driveway.. I had to dig it out and drive it back into the garage.. A few inches of snow and some ice with the stock tires and it's a paperweight..
I didn't have to go rescue anyone.. Was just wanting to drive in the hood and see how it handled in the frozen wet stuff... Now I know to leave it parked.. |

a lot of people in the south don't buy snow tires for the main fact it doesn't snow ever... and when snow actually falls we think it will be gone the next day and spending money on a set of tires that may never be used for more than a few hours or may never see use again till they dry up and start cracking. A good set of all seasons is great to have during the winter months. This winter sure has been rough though. I feel bad for Houston people who drive only on summer tires all year round to get hit by actual winter weather. I'm in Dallas and it MAY snow 4 times within a 10 year period. and 80% of the time it never sticks and just melts and drains away without re-freezing.
