The Vancouver shop just did work on my car and I would have to say I am halfway pleased with the outcome on the paint job.....

This is true, I tested it today. That pretty much answers my question. Still curious how it's measured exactly...

I was on their ass for half of the 9 days they had it, it seemed to turn out ok:

I will look all around for defective work. USAA gave me an unlimited warranty on the work done.

It's a relatively simple calculation. It keeps track of injector pulses vs. in-gear miles, and probably vs. time as well. If you coasted down a really, really long hill with it in neutral, your mpg will go down on the display, not up. Keep it in the highest gear and coast down, and it'll go up.

Fit larger injectors and it will become almost useless, because it only measures the pulses of the injector, not how much fuel it's actually flowing. So if you got injectors that were twice the size, your actual mpg would be half of what's on the display.

Oh, my .....

j3uddha, I'm ah feared you're just looking for something to worry about...

If your car was fixed proper, I suggest just move on.

After a massive ulcer; a paralyzing stroke and two bouts with cancer ..... I learned not to sweat the small things ....

I've worked in a couple body shops and Kadels is one of them. If you asked for an alignment they very possibly could have driven it. I don't know how that locations lot is set up but depending on the situation cars can be driven back and forth a lot and possibly sit idling. I don't recommend them personally but if the repair is done properly it might be best to move on.

Stockysnail - The location I worked at they got over spray everywhere. They even taped up the windows and whatnot but not very good. The detailer should have noticed over spray. I think it also depends on the painter to how bad the over spray will be.
