I am on top of my grades and I want to be an engineer. Thats the only reason I got it. Also my friend got a new 2013 Camaro when he turned 16 and he is also on top of his grades and one of the smartest kids in school. Just because a youngster is driving a new car doesn't mean he/she is a spoiled brat.
This makes no sense. What do grades have to do with being spoiled?
Yes you're spoiled, but Just roll with it (pun intended) you're very lucky and in a good situation. If someone calls you spoiled as an insult, don't get mad. Just act humble and thank your parents.
I started working when I was 16 And got good grades in school. I also worked 2 part time jobs(50-55hrs a week) durning my first semester of college (part time) a lot of people said I couldn't do it. But I did, and got B's and an A. Granted engineering is in a whole different world, lol.
If someone makes you feel bad they're just jelly. As long as you Always remember to thank your parents and never take credit for what they did I see no problem
Getting good grades does not equal a new car in the real world.

You're parents have a lot going for them and want to share it with you, I see no problem with that. Insurance and accidents they'll have to pay for, but if they got the cash who cares.
Life is too short!! Be responsible and stay motivated!

this thread should be more specific; do you mean OWNERS or drivers? I am 23 work at a decent job part time living at home, this is my only expense and it takes away almost all of my money. So worth it!

Actually....if they can hold theyre grades up. Then by damn sure I would get my son or daughter a car. They deserve it for their academic achievement! And if they get into a great college? Well f the fr-s and I'll buy them something better

I totally agree with you man. Keep up the good work in school and work even harder in college. Most kids who get nice new cars are usually into drugs and just have rich parents who don't care and get them whatever they want. I don't think it's bad at all that you got a frs because of grades to me that's better than working 50 hours a week because your basically studying all the time and wouldn't have time for a job like that.

Uh. That sounds off to me - reward your kid for not being a screw up? He's 16. He's in high school. The fact that he's "on top of his grades" doesn't mean anything when you're learning about trigonometry for the first time. (I'm just being a bitter university student, I'll admit)

However, keeping straight A's in school shouldn't be an "achievement", nor should it be motivated by the possibility of a new car. Buckle down and get your shit done, simply because that's what you should be doing at 16.

I understand what you're saying but everyone has different perspectives on what a kid should or should not deserve. I feel like they deserve for how hard they work for it. Especially if they're in all AP classes

What's your insurance then? All my vehicles have pretty much been the same premium regardless of type provided I kept the same coverage/deductibles.

About $2400 yearly for the BRZ, Corvette was $1900 yearly and my 135i was $2300 yearly, full coverage $2 million liability, $500 deductibles on all of them.

Ouch! Mines 1600/yr for the FR-S. 2 mill / 500 comp / 500 coll / pl pd / replacement car crap / etc basically everything but limited glass coverage.

My RX-7 FD was about the same, 1700, jetta was 1500 when I looked into collision but figured it wasn't worth it.

You are probably older than me, I am only 23 now and have 4 speeding tickets from years ago.

Shouldn't be much different. 24 /w 1 speeding ticket (160 in 100), no accidents. Tickets beyond 3 years fall off for insurance.
