Sure, there are plenty of vehicles around the same price point that you could argue have more features but IMHO they are missing the most important features and are therefore not comparable. It's a matter of preference. I'm not judging anyone who decides to change their minds, I just find it odd.
When this was first announced it was touted to be an AFFORDABLE FR. Once you break the 25k mark you are quickly heading away from the "affordable" mark, if not already shot WAY past it.

Sure, they may not have the low CoG, or the LSD, or the many other features that we covet in the FRS/BRZ, but that's a trade off for other features and/or lower price.

25k is the demarcation line that separates the opportunists who want to drive a "proper" car on the cheap (like me) and the enthusiasts who see deeper value - something like a first DD/light-duty track car that they can use to learn something about driving and, more importantly, something about themselves. For these folks, 200HP is not a limitation, but a necessary safety feature.
Great post. Totally agreed- I'm going from AWD to RWD, and I'd rather do it in a low HP lightweight car than a 3800 lb 400hp car, that seems to be the norm these days. BUT, for a 200hp car, I'd rather not pay 30k. If I'm paying 30k, I'd rather something that brings more to the table.

People get real, the Scion FR-S is stripped down to the bone. Its not going to be 25K. That will be the price of the BRZ Premium.

$23k FR-S 6 speed manual with bespoke
$24K BRZ premium 6 speed manual
$26K BRZ limited 6 speed manual

I am sticking with these numbers.

Well said. I wouldn't say I disagree in any way. I am one of the people who find deeper value in this specific choice.

I laughed when I read your comment about the 200hp because if the 3rd Gen RX7 had been affordable when I was in my early twenties I would likely have trashed it and myself along with it!

If the FR-S is below $25K I'm in, if it's over, I'm most likely out and will go used for my next DD. Yes, I'm willing to walk for $1.00 difference.

Others may feel differently, but I know what a car is worth to me and what I'm willing to spend on a depreciating asset I'll most likely drive into the ground.
I am with you.

If its over 25K I am out. If its over it better have HIDs and push start! LOL! Hell even all 2013 mustangs have HIDS now.

Scion is not going to mess this up. That is why they have not released the pricing yet....$23k folks with the Bespoke!

So you're saying 22k for the FRS with the standard Scion pioneer headunit?

Scion never included an upscale headunit on their vehicles as a standard option, not evenwith the RS models.

I am expecting the FRS to be more expensive than we thought.

The pricing debate has been going on for way too long. I'll come back and bitch about the price once it's official.

See you sometime in April then!

Seriously, I'm with you on this one. The speculation is rampant in this thread and it will continue until it is offical.

But then we will see all these "I told you so" threads.

Not only that but the people who are actually wrong will somehow try and argue that they are indeed correct.

I can't wait to see what happens when April comes. I forsee a lot of thread locks coming.

Price speculations threads were going on since back in the day. So why stop now? lol

Someone is bound to be right/close just based on the number of posts.

i currently have an order for a dgm brz premium, but i may end up jumping ship to the fr-s since it will be the cheaper of the two; now THAT is for certain...

when i placed the pre-order, i did not think it will top $27k, so i decided to just get the premium model... now that i think about it, this is not a luxury car, so i don't need all the bells and whistles... and i plan to add/upgrade a few parts on this car, so it's probably best to just get the "barebone" fr-s and "mod" it to my liking...

if the fr-s is priced more than $24k, i am bailing and just simply going with a different car, probably a gti... to each his own, i suppose.
