I envy that you can live at home... living expenses in the city are outta control.

Being older now (28), the only thing that worries me when I see younger adults driving nice/new cars is that they are more likely to do something foolish simply because of the lack of experience. 200hp is still enough power to wrap yourself around a tree.

Also worth noting, I was paying ~$300/mo for the car back then, and another $200 or so for auto insurance. Now I drive an 09 tC (paid for), and spend ~$45/mo for insurance. It's mind boggling what a difference age, credit score and income can have on your insurance rates.

Well I have had the car a little over a year and so far no accidents! *knock on wood*

Yup, there's a reason why new drivers have the highest insurance costs... They're based on statistics.

Younger drivers get into more accidents.

It's when you hit 25 that insurance costs drastically go down.
However, I heard that recently they changed it to where now males age for the decrease is 30, while females still at 25. Don't know if that's for sure and if it applies nationwide though.

I'm so glad to see other people my age work hard to get what they want.
Glad to see other young people take responsibility for their wants, as these cars are definitely a luxury to have at our age. If you work hard and can afford it with your own means, props to you.

I'm 22 and done my undergrad, now working my first corporate job. Came to work every day for the past 9 months in the oldest car in the employee lot (my 95 prelude) but now that my debts are paid I can put my money towards my first new car.

Congrats to all the young owners out there who have bought it themselves! I recommend finishing college/university though before you get it as unless your parents pay for it you're gonna need every penny of your savings.

Clue: The OP says that "I pay for the monthly payments." What does that really mean?? Usually one says as you do as in "make payments or making payments". The word usage give it away. In other words, the OP pays someone else something and does not make direct payments to a lender.

I was 17 when I got my first car, too. My parents paid for it, and I gradually paid them back. So yes, I "paid it myself", but I would've been taking the bus if my parents weren't there.

That being said, there's always a chance you aren't trolling and found a high paying job, whilst being in high school.

No insurance cost, cause it wasn't insured. I traded slave labor on my father's farm for gas, from the tractor gas tank.

Oh ..... I digressed again .....

Money I receive from my paychecks at work go to my father, who pays it to the lender.
