no lie, when i first saw the car/color it was really sunny and the color looked so good and unique i couldent keep my eyes off of it
was really surprised when the sun started goin down and the car looked gray

my first choice was WRB brz, then dark blue

Everyone who has seen my Silver Ignition comments favorably, saying it's the best shade of silver they've ever seen. It's a plus that we'll never see the color again on any new FR-S, something that will eventually help resale value.

Sad to be seeing you trade in your 10 Series for the Monogram, but I completely understand because it comes with features we all wanted to be on the 10 Series in the first place. But considering you will have one of the very few Asphalt MT in the NW, it will still be unique in its own way.

I'll tell you, after seeing a few Monograms and sitting in one at the car show, I'm rapidly losing interest in replacing my 10 Series.

No doubt Monogram represents value, but the emotional attraction the 10 Series provides is missing. There's nothing in the package I'm particularly interested in and they all look alike from the outside. Compounding that, the spoiler paint mismatch was a huge drawback and the knee pads that I thought would be useful on track days aren't placed correctly for my ergos.

I'm seriously reconsidering my decision. Having the only Monogram M/T of any color is a logical economic decision. Having a first year 10 Series is a bit more special to me. It doesn't help that my Toyota corporate friends are strongly encouraging me to keep it, predicting that it will become collectible.

Maybe I'll be mounting the new Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the 10 and be happier with new shoes, Silver Ignition and glowing badges after all.

If my vote is any consolation, keep the 10 Series. And here are my reasons why:

1) I was so interested in getting JDM kneepads until I saw them in real-life. Not worth the money and hype IMO. There is a TRD kneepad set that although is an aftermarket add-on, may be more suited for your tracking needs. (However, I do not know if they come LHD to be of any use for you as the pads connect to the speaker panel from the images I've seen).

2) I dislike the OEM scion spoiler. Remember too that your just adding weight for tracking purposes.

3) The seats although very nice, and soft to the touch, did not seem as firm to me when I sat in it. This could be just because this was the monogram prototype and hundreds of people of all shapes and sizes were getting in and out during the auto-show and wearing down the support.

4) Silver Ignition. Still amazed at the color. Gets compliments all the time from fellow 86ers. There is nothing stopping a fellow Asphalt member from strapping on JDM/Wingjet headlights, and a spoiler and no one would be the wiser.

5) Financially you may have the funds to trade and I know you get your deals through fleet, but is it truly worth heated seats, heated side mirror, and a spoiler. I wonder what the cost of just buying replacement heated seats would be.

6) I understand your enthusiasm for this vehicle, and tracking. What happens if a 2015 power increase does occur, or the rumored TRD special edition. So is it worth trading now for a Monogram, or waiting for one of those to trade to?

I'm sorry, but no release series or special edition FR-S will make me switch my 10 Series... Silver Ignition is by far the best color out of the lineup... I never really liked any of the base colors offered.

I do like WRB, but that isn't available for the FR-S

What if the TRD special edition came in WRB or an Ultrasonic Blue haha?

Keep the Series 10... Although I'm not a big fan of the glowing badges, I'd have one if they didn't run out so fast: the main reason I'm getting a monogram

I would only change my 10 series if they come out in a color similar to nurburgring blue...

Main reason I love silver ignition is cause of the baby blue hue.

All great points.

I'll check into those TRD kneepads. I guess that explains why Mongram kneepads seemed shorter than others I've seen around here and was expecting. I'm not crazy about the negative dihedral TRD USA wing either. I don't need heated anything, the car is in storage during the five coldest months here.

I might go through this again with the TRD Edition in a few months, but doubt it since it's supposedly going to be a very loud yellow, not my style.

As for a power increase, I still have serious doubts it'll ever happen. Anyway, I'd prefer a brake upgrade first.

I like all of the other colors, each gives the car a little bit different personality. But for me Silver Ignition combines the best of all worlds. It's sporty, looks very close to my neighbor's LFA but even more luxurious with the pearl coat and drop dead gorgeous the way it changes color in different light. Whiteout comes close though!

I actually like the glowing badges now. A couple people in parking lots came over to take pictures. Like my new avatar of the front badge?

With the FR-S I'm keeping it simple initially: just TRD intake & exhaust, 3M clear film protection, and tint so far. Time will tell what I decide to do with it, though I'm having a blast with the car as is.

I've spent so much money in the past on the upgrade this part, everything else needs an upgrade game that I'm leery of doing much more than maybe a header and E85 tune. Will be watching to see what people think of that setup.

All the best,

DJ

Sounds like you already feel/know it'll be a mistake. I've had 6 cars and still have 4, this is the only one I start to walk away from in a parking lot and always feel compelled to stop and stare at before I finish walking to where I need to be. It always pulls back at me when I try to leave her. The next Supra is the only car I'd think of giving here up for and only if that came in a color as special as silver ignition.

I think it says a lot that many of 10 owners are people that usually hate silver cars.

Coming from a silver car, I told myself I wouldn't get another silver, until I heard news of the 10 series and I saw it and I haven't regretted it since, I'm super glad I didn't go with raven.
