I would think this is a question for whoever you bought the kit from. The idea of a base map is to get the car up and running initially before fine tuning, so if your car fits in the parameters the tune was created for you should be ok.

I think you need to be more clear.
Are you talking about the "Base Map" as in: The Stock ECU Maps that came with the car? If so - NO you cannot run boosted with the stock ECU maps. Even if the car could compensate for the boost by internally tuning, the MAF calibrations will be off. And then you state the "baseman(you mean maps) that came with the kit". If they sent you a "MAP" then it needs to be put on the car. But you rarely flash "just" maps unless they are specific to your ROM, and then you need to know what you are doing. So I think you just need to explain better what you are talking about. |

sorry about that. ya my stupid atuocorrect keeps changing basemap. i am referring to the turbo kit base map (tune file). Toni told me its a 6PSI ROM for the kit (i can't run more boost without further mods anyways). and i no he incorporates a boost cut into the file so it won't over boost, but what i was asking is with just that initial file that he sent me is it safe to do hard runs like close to redline and racing or should i flash it and then datalog before i push the car? i hope that makes more sense |

why not just ask Toni then, he created it so he will know. Generally base maps are conservative for a safety margin.

i trust real world experience more then data and just wanted to get more peoples thoughts on it. i don't trust any aspect of my car to 1 single person that i still don't know all that well, regardless of what other ppl say.

And to make things more clear:
A "MAP" is a table that exists within the ECU "ROM". There are hundreds of "MAPs" within your ROM. When you reflash your ECU you typically reflash the entire ROM, not just a single "MAP". It is possible to overwrite just individual MAPs, but that uses very specific memory addresses that are specific to your current ROM ID (e.g. ZA1J700C, etc.), and is best left to the ECUFlash 'experts'. So I believe that the answer is: You need to install the ROM provided with the boost kit. Then you need to know what base ROM the modified one is based on, then you can log. What are you using to flash and what are you using to log? |

the last base map i logged (wasn't from fa20club) had 50+% fueling error and would hardly rev.
wait until he checks the logs and send you an updated map. |

In your case, a base map is meant to be used initially after the install to provide drivability.
It should be updated soon thereafter by a proper dyno tune. You should have this done as soon as possible. Some base maps will run pig rich as they're typically intended to run in the interim and not for prolonged use.

What Jamesm said is what I meant by don't. Do what you have to do to log and get the tune revised.

I have a pretty good idea. A basemap should at a minimum have MAF scaling for the additional flow/possible change in pipe size, fuel injector scaling if injectors were changed, and possibly MAP sensor scaling if you changed yours. I would expect the car to be safe to drive and have a very safe ignition map. I would not drive if you won't have a boost gauge and wideband gauge to verify that your car is running properly.
