For the days where I instruct on a voluntary basis, the organizations will not assign students with cars that lack adequate safety equipment. I'm not sure why people request an instructor, only to not listen.

Bump.

A friend of mine was involved in a roll-over incident while coaching a novice in a rather powerful car.

Fortunately, he came out unscathed, minus some minor cuts, abrasions, and bruises.

@CSG Mike: I'm glad you've trusted me enough to coach me. My driving has benefited tremendously from real-time instruction. I've read numerous times that we have to "pay to play," but I hope it's never with people's lives. Motorsports have real risks that demand careful assessment.

I'm going to coach my first I think soon. Friend is going to do infield school course at Daytona and I'm going to instruct for the first time, possibly. He has some autocross experience at least so he's not completely green.

Still, Evos aren't slow and the international horseshoe is no joke, coming down from 110+...

I always reserve the right to refuse to get into a car, and give a full refund, minus travel expenses if my travels were paid for.
@Kido1986: you should be fine. I always recommend inspecting the car as if it's your own: check safety systems, tires, and brake lines/pads/calipers/rotors. If it's got stock systems, then you'll usually be okay with a minimal inspection, unless it's an older car.

I don't ever get into cars without checking out the car.

The car is all stock except for exhaust, tune and tires (I know it has good tires too). I'm going to beg him to do the brake fluid before the event hahah

Can't ever go wrong with pads and fluid.

That sounds like us... our 2013 had less than 700 miles when it arrived at the track...
