All,

I am really hoping some of you ca help me out with deciding to go FI or not. Of course more power is always good for you get a lil more pep. But at the end, is it really worth it for everyday driving? Majority round trip drive is about 50 miles. Most of my travel is on a freeway with mid trafffic. The current setup is CAI / Airraid, Unichip, and cat back exhasut. Im not sure if I gain anything, but it does sound good. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Not sure I follow.. it's not going to do anything for commuting on the highway for 25 miles. I mean you are pretty much just sitting there with cruise control on at 70mph for 20 minutes or so.

Yah, highway pulls are fun.. but during commuting hours that is surely going to lead to speeding tickets if that's even possible at those hours. And besides, back roads or track = way more fun.

Basically, no. Not worth it for everyday driving. You will see boost maybe 20 seconds of a 30 minute commute unless you are driving like an asshole. For enthusiastic driving on back roads or track days.. totally worth it.

I DD my car, but I also drive it everywhere.. sometimes just to drive. I love driving. This summer I want to try to start getting to the track. For me, overall, it is worth it. Just be prepared to spend a lot of money and time.

highway driving is where the turbo excels. you get stock-if-not-better mpg, a ton more passing power, and the ability to not get your doors blown off by those pesky soccer mom vans. it's a win-win-win.

I do a mix of city and highway driving with my AVO kit. I typically see ~34mpg per tank, whereas with the stock setup I would see maybe 31.5mpg.

I didn't change the way I drive the car at all. It now has power where I need it, so soccer moms are the least of my worries.

I only say that because it's actually happened to me when I first got the car. My sisters kia Sedona. So not just a soccer mom van. A kia soccer mom van. It literally inspired me to go turbo.

As others have said if you're doing mostly highway you won't notice a difference with MPG even with 2-3 pulls a day, but you will have a smile on your face every time you get on an on ramp or need to pass someone. I don't really have a downside to comment on about going FI besides cost. I've let a few people ride along and it pretty much sealed the deal for them going FI, endless smiles.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure every 86 owner that has ridden in my car later went turbo. One even sold his vortech and switched over, though @lexusb3 was the one that did the convincing with all that power

No one can tell you if its worth it, that would be up to you and your personal situation. My car is FI and i love it. I only drive 5 miles to work and back. But driving it elsewhere (back roads and such) is a lot of fun.

The ability to use on ramps without your butthole puckering up is nice and passing with confidence is great. The only downside I've found is the clutch is a bit heavy and touchy but that's a small price to pay
