I mean the good thing about supercharged is the linear delivery of power but because ESC works only when at WOT (I believe).... well I don't know how good it would be on something that is not a straight line pull or exiting a corner.
Looks like you would have the same if not more problem of a strong turbo when it finish to spools up and deliver over9000 TQ all of a sud

I don't know if my words make any sense or If I explained myself correctly, hope so.

On the starter battery you can take robs recommendation or do something on your own. As for the dump packs for the supercharger, I would only use what rob recommends.

The batteries for yr dump packs need to lose their charge quickly to transfer as much energy to motor as quickly as possible. If you switch out these batteries for a cheaper version or a lighter version: there is little guarantee you would get the same performance.

As for the track performance... Someone autox with their phantom I'm not sure who it was.

I wired my relay to the factory wires on the back of cigarette lighter as I was utilizing the cigarette lighter to power my nexus 7/ headunit combo.

Also on the topic of the led for the esc. I would recommend placing the led so it is slightly blocked by your steering wheel while driving in your "normal" position. The led is extremely bright and can be annoying at night. I find the to the left of the radio works perfectly.

Smaller and better batteries are available however most are LiPo or other variant which do not like heat and have to be precisely charged. The batteries that Rob has chosen are dead simple and have a wide margin of operating temperatures. Rob has ran LiPo on one of these before and it is possible and there are gains but the risks go up exponentially as well, same with cost.

You don't have anywhere near the same problem as a strong turbo but i could see why you would think that. Think of it this way.... a strong turbo goes from 140tq to 300tq once it spools, it is doubling the torque in a small window. With the esc you are only going from 140tq to about 200tq.... this isnt enough to upset the car in the way a large turbo would.... it is more akin to a small turbo, you go wot and you just have torque instantly.

Sorry im trying to explain this the best that i can.... in my experience the way it comes on is very smooth almost like you just have a bigger engine like a V6.

That being said you have to be smart.... any car that has decent torque you cant just go WOT mid corner and not expect that rear tires to light up.....let me just say this does have enough torque

When I installed the relay to turn off the controller I could not find a switched 12 vdc in the fuse box located in the engine compartment. It was easy to route the power wire through the fire wall (where the sound tube entered) to the power adapter. Also, I put the led right on top of the trunk switch and that made it less intrusive.

@Robftss

Any chance OpenFlash/Vishnu could be a vendor for the Phantom Supercharger? I'd like to purchase it from them bundled with a OFT & OFH.

For those about to install, here is a write up on priming/formatting (Pb relevant).

My recommendation is drive around for a week with 5-20 sec WOT pulls/ recharge.

Upon batt delivery you should see a minimum of 12.60V (if you have a voltmeter).

Updated first page with release information. I dont know if it is necessary to create a release thread itself? Thoughts?

I know that we could create a owners thread however there is a lot of good information in this thread as well.

I say create a new thread for owners with a link to this one for more info. Try to post a lot of the initial info on the first post.

Should be added to first post and included in kit instructions if not already.
__________

Are there no viable or cost effective capacitor solutions as opposed to a bank of batteries? If I wanted to go with capacitors, what would you recommend?
__________

Personally I wouldn't worry about heat if you plan to relocate something like LiPo. Move it to the cabin or trunk.

I thought about relocating the dump batteries, but you would have to modify the wiring harness that comes with the kit. unless you can source the connectors Rob uses, and just make your own dump harness for a cleaner setup. I think you can get capacitors with a lower internal impedance, which would give a higher current (?more power?) but I don't know what would be safe for the motor/controller. Would hate to burn anything out (especially since I still don't know if you can replace individual parts or if you would have to replace whole assemblies.

I agree that the battery tending info should come with kit, same thing with the auto off/on switched relay info. It seems to be the green and yellow wires that need to be opened.. I would really love to find a socket to fit on the back of the cig lighter plug between the stock wiring and the outlet, with power/ground wires tapped off so you wouldn't have to occupy the socket, or splice factory wires.

I believe individual parts can be replaced no problem....I'll let Rob confirm that though.

Ok.. color me interested. I admit to being skeptical, given the only thing I knew of "electric superchargers" previously were the tiny gimmick ones found on ebay for less than $100...

I've spent the last couple/three hours reading this thread and the numbers don't lie. I already own the OFT and soon to own the OFH... and I've seen the results Shiv has posted. Impressive.

Up until today, I was only considering a rotrex or vortech solution (depending on what Vishnu has up their sleeve)... but now I will weight the Phantom SC as an option in the very near future.
-edit- wanted to add, the thought that pushed me over the edge for this solution was to think of it as a 40-shot of NOS that refills itself. I like that!

Couple of questions...

What is the expected life-span of the ceramic bearings?
Can the bearings/unit be serviced?

Also, I suppose this applies to all FI applications... in a failure type situation, I worry about the supercharge and its motor parts or blade/impellers disintegrating. Is there to a way keep parts/pieces from being sucked through the engine? Maybe a fine steel mesh in the ducting that would not effect flow terribly?
