Anyone done a full exhaust on a NA 86? (South Africa)

Hi guys,

I'm expecting delivery of my 86 by next week.

I would like to fit a full exhaust system including branch

Few things i'd like to find out.
1. Has anyone done this in SA before?
2. What were the results?
3. Is it worth changing the full exhaust including the branch or just the zorst or just the rear box?
4. What brand to go for?
5. What diameter pipes?
6. How many boxes?
7. Do you then fit a "cat-fooler" or sport cats or leave the original cats?

I think thats it for now...

Die$el is part of the committee. He will be there definitely! And we will see the car on the rollers plus in the show and shine.

Some guys in Jhb have the Borla headers. Sounds awesome.
It's always better adding a full system from the branch right through.
Don't expect massive gains. The exhaust just makes the car breath better and is a prerequisite for going bigger on the power, but it will sound better.
Different brands sound different.
I wouldn't go bigger than 63mm unless you going turbo/supercharger.
No cat means less restriction but will give you bad smelling exhaust fumes.
I see they make high-flow cats these days. I'd go for that.
The number of boxes depends on the style and sound you looking for.

Did you get your car yet?
Enjoy it

Just a question on those that did full exhaust - apart from sound and possible high end power increase, did you notice any difference (particularly loss) in low end torque.

In my very limited experience, some freeflow exhausts result in reduced low down torque on NA motors. Anyone who did full exhaust care to share some info.
