Right? I wish they're was a dd able variant that had that at the top with a continuation of the grill at the bottom. No need to let my rad/oil cooler take more of a beating from dd debris.

Don't get me wrong, the car is still very impressive and I'm doing what I can building my own car to follow their example, but I'd really like to see what it could do on less exotic tires.
Based on the video, I believe they are using A048 tires. The impressive part is how difficult it is to break the 1 minute barrier at Tsukuba. You see a lot of big boys play at the Time Attack, but few break the barrier with that little power. This is seriously an amazing feat!

It also encourages us to push forward with all the projects we have for the future.

That snorkel is definitely nice to have, but, I'm very sure there was extensive modification performed to make everything fit properly. That snorkel is money when it comes to getting ram air. It effectively maintains or "improves" power at speed.

Those look like slicks to me...

In the most recent video they might have been using the A048's, it was definitely something with tread, but that makes sense since they were testing in the wet.

True, honest opinion on the griffon/trd stabilizing fender fin things. The ones that replace the 86 symbol/brz fake vent thing.

About time the asm s2000 had some kind of competition! In all reality both the asm and trd cars are amazing works of art, and really show what a BALANCED car can do on the track.

Treaded street tires seem to be mounted only when its on the gloss gunmetal TWS T66-F 18x9.5 +45 wheels. I notice this in all pictures and track demonstrations I've seen.

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mIdkWrPODY"]86 TRD GRIFFON CONCEPT in おわらサー*ット - YouTube[/ame]

The street tires are 265/35R18 (a photographer who shot the Griffon at Goodwood was kind enough to send to me a close up of the sidewall showing the tires size specs, attached at the bottom of this post) and tire model appears to be Yokohama Advan AD08R based on its tread pattern:

The 250/640R18 Yokohama Advan A005 racing slicks only seem to be mounted on its Volks wheels when in "show" mode or in the glamourized track videos produced by TRD with the "show" wheels being 18x9.5 +45 TE37SL for 2013 and ZE40 of the same size for 2014.

I say "show" wheels because they are marketed throughout TRD's official Griffon 86 webpages and at shows such as Tokyo Auto Salon 2013 and 2014. I haven't seen the TWS wheels ever officially mentioned. They seem to be behind-the-scenes track-only wheels. Logically, wheels with the lowest rotational inertia (TWS) would be used in achieving their best times and the TWS wheels always seem to be mounted with street tires.

Another observation is the BBK have been marketed as TRD but in the latest 2014 Griffon page they are labeled as "Prototype" and the latest video released by TRD shows it has Advics BBK calipers, not the commercially available TRD/Brembo.

The Griffon 86 seems to have a marketing setup (Volks, racing slicks, TRD BBK) and track setup (TWS, street tires, Advics BBK).

Here is a marketing setup I mentioned in my previous post: http://translate.google.com/translat...fon%2F&act=url

And 2014 setup: http://translate.google.com/translat...x.html&act=url

I need to put my foot in my mouth for my previous post. I have not yet identified the tire shown in the above 2014 version pic but it appears to have a tread pattern AND racing (not street) tire dimensions.
