Wheel Directory: Enkei RSM9 17x8.0 +48

Enkei RSM9 17x8 +48 16.93lbs vs Stock 20.1lbs
Michelin Pilot Super Sports 225/45 22lbs vs Stock 22lbs (Turanza)
About 3.17lbs saved per wheel. Biggest difference is the level of grip. No more squeals when taking semi aggressive turns.

Nice! They appear to be hyper black! Why 17's vice 18's? Is the weight your only concern? Are you planning to lower it as well?

The color is suppose to be platinum silver. Seems to be more rare than the piano black. I think the 18s would probably look better, but I wanted some weight savings. I was planning on lowering, but feel like coilovers are overkill when I'm not planning on tracking the car.

I have mixed feelings about coilovers vice lowering springs. From my experience if you lower it on springs you will cause premature OEM strut failure...so you know it's coming. With $$ coilovers, you at least have the option of raising your car at will, for the Winter.

That's mainly why I'm going with 18's so that my car will sit near the OEM height once it is lowered on Eibach springs.

Yea, I don't want to deal with the possible hassle of strut failure and I'm having a hard time justifying coilovers.

I will most likely look into some lowering springs that have a very modest drop (0.75"). Possibly the TRD springs.

Very nice color on white, and nice weight savings. Check out the Enkeis I just put on my car!

Hello AsianStyle. Do you mind uploading more pics from the front / rear profile. Like at a 30 degree angle looking into the wheel well. I'm trying to get a feel for the stance and the sidewall.

I'm thinking about a similar set up.

Suspension is still OEM, right?

Did you consider Tires 17", 215 wide, 0.40 aspect ratio? Its a rare size, but would lower your car, decrease mass further, tighten sidewall, and lower gear ratio by about 4%. Of course you would give up 10mm of contact. 17x225@0.40 exits, but only in slicks it seems.

Thanks!

Hi, I would, but currently my car is using the OEM wheels and tires. Been getting hit with a lot of snow and have not had a chance to mount these wheels back on. Probably won't for a couple months. Sorry.

I was only considering getting the michelin pss and they only came in the 45. I'm super pleased with these tires, so I don't see myself switching. Unless I decide to run all seasons.

Wondering if there's a specific reason you didn't go with the +35 offset set of these? Once I wear through the oem rubber I'll be acquiring these in the +35 with 215/45R17 Pilot Super Sports. Definitely my favorite wheel on the FR-S/BRZ.....

So you are going to increase the overall dia of the tire?

I'm confused! Is that not what that means, going from the OEM 17's to an 18?

Not necessarily. You can go from a 17" wheel, to an 18" wheel, but maintain the over all dia of the tire, example, going from an OEM 215-45x17 (overall dia of 24.64") to a 235-35x18 (overall dia of 24.48"), or 245-35x18 (overall dia of 24.75") will roughly maintain the overall dia.

By maintaining the overall dia, you keep the speedo and odometer in check.
