Ouch! I paid $500 for my Sony HU. I like the NEX interface, but for $1400, I'd be buying wheels & tires.

The problem there is sound quality. I had an AppRadio2 in my STI, and it sounded okay. It was much better than stock, but SQ was only fair to middlin'. It is good on the interface, but the sound processing left a great deal to be desired (only 4 pre-outs with rear/sub switching pre-outs, so if you wanted pre-outs for a sub you lost fade control... and they were only 2V pre-outs, and it came with the worst 5-band equalizer I've ever seen outside of OEM units).

The AR3 hasn't changed any of that. All it did was add disc, bt audio, and mirrorlink to the HU. the hardware remains unchanged
Lol I've rooted every android phone I've had, first thing I do, won't be an issue...

Those prices are outrageous, how can they be worth that much?

You're talking about what is essentially an in-car PC with excellent audio processing.

Now consider cost.

Right, but the only one with a capacitive touch screen is the 1400 one, and a Parrot Asteroid Smart costs a third of that!

The AppRadio 3 has a capacitive touch screen.

My Sony XAV has a resistive, but honestly it's very fast and responsive much like a capacitive, just with that resistive feel. But it looks and acts very nicely.

So, don't worry too much about the pioneers coming with resistive touch screens. They've gotten ALOT better from 5 years ago.

Yes but can you pinch to zoom easily like a capacitive?

All products have msrp list price but at the end of the day sale price is the one people would buy. If it list at $1.4k then online is around $850-$950 at the early shelves, or near a year later would be down to $700-$800. Look at the current Z150 or Kenwood 990HD online price. Msrp list price is a ripoff electronics
I like the new 8000nex with very impressive specs so far.

i see what your saying but all i wanted was excellent android interface. IE: watch youtube music videos

and i just wanted the headunit to control my upgaded door speakers and dash speakes and then add a small amp to power a set of 6x9's in the rear quarters. Do you think that would work??

The AppRadio3 will suffice for that, but you will need to be rooted and running ARunchained to do that.
