If you're flying, just go to DC and leave the car parked. There's lots to do in DC. However, DC is better on foot or metro than by car. Nothing like the Springtime in DC with the cherry blossoms bloomed and tossing a Frisbee on the mall. Snag some advance hotel rates and just stay in DC proper.

like everyone else said, depends on when you go. If i were you i'd try to time your trip with a track weekend at VIR. Truly one of the nicest road courses in America.

Oh really? That sound interesting...

I wonder how much is it to run on the weekend? & anyone willing to let me borrow their FRS/BRZ on weekend to let me track it. I promise, I'll bring it back in one piece w full tank of gas lol jk

But on seriousness, is there something cool to do around that track?

Unfortunately most of the area around the track is country. To run with NASA or one of the other organizations that puts on track weekends it's usually $200-300 for the weekend, that includes classroom time and an instructor with you in your car. They also have a nice kart track.

It's about a 2 hour drive from Richmond.

That's generally the price for a 2-day event.

Edit: double checked, it's about 400 for a 2 day event with NASA.

$400 for 2 day event? It's not too expensive, but it's not cheap either.

Hm... It might be better spending $400 on doing BBQ lol

They also offer a $50 option that give you about 30 minutes of track time and 30 minutes of classroom time.

either way you do it, the experience you gain is priceless.

If you are in/around Richmond then I recommend Burger Bach. Been there twice since @kanundrum recommended. He is also good at finding good eats around the area!

Nova -where i live, it's a little crowded in certain areas but all of LC (loudoun county) is fairly nice. The weather is bipolar all around virginia though. Seasonal wise i'd suggest... spring-summer and or mid of summer-fall is a decent time..
