The thing that made the 12 gauge hard to work with was that I couldn't easily twist the 2 different gauges together, at least the wire is heavy duty

To make the install a bit easier, solder the diode between your wires.
Just made one in about 5 minutes, (To take some pictures)
Shrink-tubed my cable from the headlight to the DRL's to make it look like a wiring harness.
(If you wouldn't know you might think it was part of the car)
A connecter on the DRL side will make it easy to disconnect when removing the bumper.

I might eventually go back and do something like this, I was thinking of maybe using some connector pieces that I can crimp onto the wires. It works fine now, I'm just not happy with the sloppy job I did :P

my buddy had to re tap the green wire because it was so short where he couldn't get to it. so we tapped a longer wire and it made life so much easier lol

Actually, I think I might take some of the excess tape off and get one of these shrink wraps: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GARZT8/ref=s9_simh_gw_p60_d0_i5?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_ rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1WE10JN650AKX1BYDK9J&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p =1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846#productDetails"]Gardner Bender HST-999 Heat Shrink Tubing - Amazon.com[/ame]

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Install-Bay-Heat-Shrink-Inch/dp/B0053PYAWQ/ref=pd_cp_hi_0"]Amazon.com: Install Bay Heat Shrink 1 Inch x 4 Foot: Car Electronics[/ame]

Do you think 1" is large enough to slide over the entire headlight harness? The solder should be pretty darn secure, it just looks so bulky and obvious with the tape on there, I'm thinking this heat shrink will make it much less noticeable that anything was fooled around with...

Thanks OP!!!! I wanted these for a while now.

So I only had time to do the left side of the car, but the mod seem to be working already.
- Auto (night time): DRLs, HL, Boomerangs all turn on

The only problem is that
- Auto (day time): DRLs, but no Boomerangs

I'm curious whether this was a wiring issue I might have messed up on, or because I haven't worked on the right side yet?

Interesting point is that the DRLs on both sides seem to be working just fine (staying on all the time as intended) although I haven't even worked on the right side yet.

Can this be the reason why my boomerangs won't turn on with my DRLs? Thanks in advance.

@tranat how many diodes are you using per side?

Only one diode on the left side. I haven't touched the right side yet, maybe later today if I get a chance

I think that you have the diode in the wrong spot from what you are saying. To me it sounds like you have the diode on the wire coming up from the DRLs and not on the wire for the boomerangs.

The DRL power wire and the boomerang light wire should be together, there should then be a diode with those two wires on the one side and then the boomerang power wire out of the harness on the other side.

Both DRLs are probably lighting up because they use the same power supply wire on the harness, so power to one is power to both.

Hope that helps.

The boomerangs would work with the DRLs but not work when they normally would.

Keep in touch, shot me a message if you have anymore trouble. please do both sides to eliminate the possibility of any feedback from another section of the circuit.
