does it affect cars with a custom tune (ECUtek, BRZedit etc..)? I keep reading that if you reset the ECU, it should be fine or something.

From these poll #s, it bears out that this issue is an anomaly, likely brought on from ECU manipulation. I think issues can be expected with any new platform until the ECU parameters in question are established. If you don't want to be a tuning R&D guinea pig, wait.

I have no modifications to my ecu or anything but I from time to time get a backfire that sounds like it's coming from the engine, a loud pop only during startup.
Any idea if I should bring this up to a dealer or just let it ride until I have a real repeatable issue? I'm afraid to add anything to my engine beyond a panel filter to avoid getting fucked on my warrantee. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't live close to a Scion dealership, closest one is 100 miles away. Unfortunately the Toyota dealership less than 5 miles down the road from me (No Scion) won't do warranty work on a Scion vehicle. |

It's been drama free since I acquired it. Really the only difference I feel is that I'm more confident in revving the engine again.
The fact that I don't really notice a difference is what I suppose you are really after w/ a factory reflash so |

I wonder why Subaru still doesn't have the TSB for the RPM drop.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43408 Seems "normal" in that it seems a lot of people get it, but certainly not all (??). I don't notice any other odd noises at other times/conditions (high load, revving it out, shifts), only during startup, and once the engine gets some load (backing out of parking spot) or if I blip the throttle just a little it seems to go away. |
