It's a flat engine, it *will* have oil starvation issues in high-g lateral loading.

I'm not completely sure, but in hudraulics the oil in the pan and the drain are both at atmospheric pressure. Following that, as long as the turbo is mounted above the drain that shouldn't be an issue.

Yes a couple of us in NZ have experienced it. I've stopped circuit racing mine until a solution is found

The TR86 race cars had the same problem during development. TRNZ developed a few prototypes before coming up with a pan and pickup modification. THey're going to release it to the market soon.

I'm trying to decide whether to get that, or do a drysump.

Buddy of mine has his own fab business, and wants to do a whole drysump/subframe setup for me, then offer it to the market.

Heres a pic of his own setup for his sti drift car.

Thanks!! At present no plan for coating options, as far as price we are looking to release the pan at $350 to $300, of course only time will tell when the pan(s) is/are complete.

Currently in process, we are investigating several baffle plates right now to decide on a design that we think is appropriate for the platform.

Send me a pm when you get this finished. If it's around that area, go ahead and send me an invoice while you are at it lol.

Subaru dry sump setups are mad money - even on NASIOC you rarely ever hear about it because it costs over ~$5K USD to do properly AND the parts development is mum/hush-hush/all custom. Typically race car only stuff.

Sure, these are the oil return ports that fit to the upper pan. In that picture you do not see the drain tubes.

You're right. Just look at the parts, before any custom work is done. Pump, good fitting and lines, tank, there's $3k right there.

Oil pan update

Looks like we are wrapping up a final design, and have built a few prototypes that we were not happy with. This oil pan will work with the OEM manifold, and should be compatible with aftermarket exhaust manifolds. We will offer an incentive once the final product is released for those that are interested.

The final design resembles the OEM pan with a few exceptions. Increased capacity, turbo oil drain port (can be plugged), baffle plate that captures oil by the pick up, and uses an o-ring seal on the flange.

Here are a few pictures of the design. I will post up the actual pan hopefully later today.

I would love to run a larger oil pan, but my class in the SCCA doesn't allow for a modified windage tray or pickup. I'm assuming yours has a new windage tray

How much further down does this extend compared to the stock oil pan?
