Ok, I can confirm that this unit works with the USB ELM327 out of the box. However, I did notice some connectivity issues when closing the app and re-opening it, and what seemed like missed data while it's running. I'll have to play with it more in the next few days. I had very limited time with it today. Perhaps I may need to try a different USB ELM327 unit.

Other than that, the interface is very responsive and much better than the clunky OEM Subaru one.

Very nice! Regarding the missing data while it is running... It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the OBD connection itself is the culprit. I have to perform all kinds of cable gymnastics with my Ecutek cable to get an uninterrupted data stream (have to wrap the cable around the steering column once to put lateral pressure on the connection). It's amazing how some industries have adopted more robust connection technologies yet we are still stuck with this plastic garbage on a 25k automobile. Congrats on the new radio! I look forward to seeing your feedback as you get some time with it.

I actually had trouble with the tradesolution site as well: http://www.tradesolution.hk/e/ptxweb...duct/1274.html

I remember going through the payment process and the page appeared to be half-broken. The paypal portion went through, though, so I contacted the vendor after that. I don't know if the order officially went through, but I had the paypal receipt and worked with the vendor with that. The vendor stalled for about 3 weeks, but finally shipped it 5 days ago. He blamed the delay on supply issues since the unit was a new model. Hopefully they have that sorted out and can have them shipped out promptly now.

I never had issues with my EcuTek cable and this same USB ELM327 worked fine with my generic Android 4.1 tablet. Hopefully, it's nothing major and can be sorted out!

When you get the chance, it would also be useful to test:

Google Play Services - Can you update to the latest version?
This has many implications, but a couple I have found are access to advanced maps and nav functionality and possibly also being able to get a more useful way to manage phone contacts (which is shit on this device).

SD card support - Can you use the SD card to store Google Play Music data?
This is standard on KitKat and also some older roms and makes Play Music usable by being able to store all your music on SD card by making a setting, rather than having to stream it.

Ok, had a few minutes to button everything up tonight. I have the Rydeen Duo Mini reverse camera and spliced the camera's power wire into the car's orange-white wire, and then tying that to the reverse signal that goes into the deck. One difference that I noticed was that the deck only switches to the reverse camera view when the ignition is in the ON position, not ACC. Not a big deal, but I thought I'd mention that.

Play Store lists RaceChrono as incompatible for this device, but I was able to install it using the included APK Installer app. I downloaded Google Maps directly from the Play Store. RaceChrono loads fine, but I haven't tried to do anything with it, since I haven't driven the car yet.

Google Play Services - How do I check? Please bear with me... I'm a software guy, but I've only played with iOS up until now.

Google Play Music offline SD card support - No. The Storage Location option is not there (unless there's a different way?)

Under Settings>Apps>Google Play Services

Should have the version number.

Ok, small update...

-Google Play services is currently on version 3.2.66 (845702-32). Doesn't update the normal way, but someone on XDA was able to sideload the latest version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...6#post49780846 (i haven't tried this)

-The included GPS app works, but leaves much to be desired.

-I was able to run Torque with the radio playing music and GPS giving background voice navigation directions. Working as one would expect.

-I'm able to switch between apps and open/close Torque without the connectivity issues that I saw the other day, but I'm still getting a choppy data stream.. will try a different USB ELM327

-The deck is OEM-fit, but it's sunk in about a 1/4". I think some spacers behind the bolts would push it back out nicely

I'm real interested in what elm module you get working. Please keep us updated. Will the elm Bluetooth work on this? Or only the USB version.

I just placed an order for the ScanTool one.. it's on sale! Hopefully, this will do the trick.

Based on what I've read, Bluetooth ELM327 will not work yet. The firmware is encrypted, so it's not straight forward for the community to enable that functionality. I actually prefer the USB connection since the ELM327 is powered (or switched) by the USB instead of continually drawing power from the OBD port.

Nice, yeah that one looks good. I would prefer the usb version as swell, it it works. Suppose to be faster and no power draw. I left my bluetooth plugged in before and it killed my battery after a few days./

Ok, so I did a bunch of testing with the ScanTool OBDLink SX.... it's better, but not perfect. It's noticeably faster than the generic one I had, but it still pauses once in a while. I've actually never used a bluetooth ELM327, so I'm not sure how it compares. Is this normal?

I think this setup is ok for FYI type of information, but not critical info that changes rapidly. I'll be using it mainly for things like coolant temp, oil temp, etc, so it's fine for me. I'll be using an AEM failsafe for boost and AFR.

I finally got to play with some of the multimedia capabilities of this unit. Here's a quick summary:

Sirius XM: Not supported
HD radio: Not supported
Analog radio: Average. I've always had poor reception with my Subaru shark fin antenna, so that might be the reason.
MP3 music from SD card/USB drive: Ok
Streaming from Play/Pandora/etc: Ok, depending on your connection and stream
Bluetooth A2DP: POOR audio quality when connected to my iPhone 5s. Have not tried any other phones yet. Same phone doing A2DP to my stock BRZ head unit was great. Update: Tested on my iPhone 5, same thing.
iPod connection: Not tested yet
DVD video:: Ok
Video from SD card/USB drive: Not tested yet
Video AUX input: Probably won't test...

I'll update this post when I get around to the other things.

And here's how it looks like during the day and night with Torque Pro running:
