I just had this discussion in the AZ thread.
For the BRZ, you use the blue/white remote out lead from the new HU and connect it to the blue power antenna lead on the metra adapter harness. This provides a +12V DC signal to the powered antenna and the factory remote amp turn-on (the metra harness wires pins 8 & 9 on the 10-pin harness together, so they can both be powered by the +12VDC signal from the remote out lead from the aftermarket HU). This is an output lead, not an input lead so you risk damaging your new HU by doing this. Then again, this is the metra harness I'm talking about. Could you take a pic and post what this beat sonic harness looks like? Only need the 10-pin harness. Oh there's definitely problems with knock-offs. You can also reliably get the HDMI-to-MHL cable from Best Buy and be fine, as they're an authorized Samsung dealer. If you go with a knock-off, be prepared to LOVE snowed screens and no audio cutting in every few seconds. It's the same symptoms as when the HDMI cable begins to work loose from the back of the HU (the standard HDMI cable connection was NOT meant to stay put for good under the vibrations and jolts that come with being in a car... they need to either include a 1.5m long male-terminated HDMI cable permanently wired to the HU, or come up with an electrical harness which keeps the HDMI cable more securely held to the back of the HU than the current little contraption they include), but worse.

Thanks 4 the reply. So connect the remote out lead to beat sonic's blue lead? Theres a pic of the harness. And i got pioneer's HDMI to MHL to avoid those problems but I didnt know about the HDMI cable not staying put, I figured the included contraption would be enough. Thanks for the heads up

Oh it physically stays put just fine, but vibrations can eventually cause contacts to get a little loose & when that happens, snow happens.
And yes, remote out to the harness blue wire. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
