BTW, RRnld, that Duc is completely sick. I almost William Shatnered myself at first sight of it.
My first bike was a GPX250, exactly like this one.
It was destroyed in a hit and run by a guy who went through a red light.

My dads VF750F was good fun.
Destroyed by a cager driving through my dad in a round-about.

And then came my pride and joy... CBR600RR, which I baught new, rode for 6000km, then decided that motor bikes only belong on a track and no where else. So I sold it, because I couldnt afford a $15000 toy at the time.

Bikes are just too dangerous to ride on the road, both my dad and I have both had multiple serious, life-threatening accidents as a result of other peoples terrible driving. So I've given them up untill I can afford to get a purpose track bike.
I've, quite unfortunately, been in your shoes for a number of years now. Always biding my time for an opportunity to get back on one again. One day, one day...

Im a huge vintage Honda collector, love them all.

I am in the market for a new touring bike, I was at a few dealers today.
Top of my list is a Honda of course.
- Honda ST1100
- Yamaha FZ1
- BMW R 1150 R/T
- Triumph Sprint ST

I really don't think I can get myself to buy anything but a honda, but I am giving the others a fighting chance.

Does anyone here ride something similar ?

Few of my vintage bikes I enjoy riding:

That's awesome! Congrats on the new Kawi pick up btw. My first ever bike was a Honda Hurricane (bought new and quickly hidden from parents). Hondas have a spot in my heart and probably always will.

Yea it is, due to theft, but there isn't any frame damage and the motor and tranny seems to work just fine. The guy i bought it from spent $900 for a ducati dealership to work on the electronics, wiring and some maintenance. He gave the the receipt which showed everything they did but i've misplaced it. The yoshimura exahust isnt fitted the way i think it should be. I might buy a slip on later on. Its not the greatest looking bike but eh its alright

That's awesome! I wish I could get myself to buy another bike right now. It will happen one day, just not in the very near future. But I've got something else in the works to keep me busy and, hopefully along with the BRZ, will keep me satisfied for a bit.

My plan was to get on a motorcycle this summer. Since I made that decision in September a number of people I know peripherally or otherwise have crashed, in some cases seriously injuring themselves. The problem isn't how I behave myself/ride, it's other people. I don't trust them and at least in a cage I'm afforded several thousand pounds of protection. Someone else's mistake could cost me my life while riding, I don't think I can accept that level of risk.

I would love to learn to ride and keep it to the track, but I don't know if I can afford that with a new BRZ on the way.

Not gonna lie, some of these idiot drivers shouldnt be anywhere near a car, it is scary out there. When i drive my car a normal van doesnt seem like much, but on a bike they look like giant missiles!!!
But not everyone drives like a dumbass. We just gotta be alert at 200%. Invest in quality gear and practice. I'm looking to get some knee protection and better gloves and possibly some shoes/boots.

Riding motorcycles isn't for everyone. I'm not calling you a weenie or anything like that.
Its better to ride when you feel ready to and be at a relaxed state of mind rather than being scared and nervous, that already spells an accident waiting to happen.

I wanted to share this pretty funny video

Thats a clean bike WheelFast. It reminds of one I saw while I was out at HPR.

Anybody have a Bell Star? I'm thinking about trying one out since my shoei is a bit to small for my head.

How suitable is a mid-90s VFR750 as a learning bike? (I'm 6'3", 220ish)

It's all about Arai. I've had mine for almost 5 years now, best helmut money can buy.

That'd be a decent bike to learn on. A bit heavy but the mid-90's 750's have less power typically than newer 600's. It should be perfect height and seating position for you though. My friend bought a 98 vfr750 as his first bike and it was great. Comfortable for passanger's as well.
