Konig daylites are 15.4lbs for 17x7 +40 - would these be a good choice for track work?

I would go with go with something lighter. Don't know how Konigs hold up for track driving, but you can get a lighter wheel in that size. The probably make RPF1s in that size, go check them out.

Flushed tires DO NOT WORK. You won't ever see that at the track, except on perhaps a novice's car.

When's the last time you saw Our car with flush tires? Or Evasive? Or Element Tuning? Or Robispec? FT86Speedfactory? Crawford? Modbargains? There must be a reason
I thought that's why people go 'hella flush'. Isn't it good to have your front tires rubbing the fenders at high speeds mid-turn over bumps?

Lower COG, better aero because of lower ride height, the gains are there.
The only thing that sucks about 16s, is the tyre selection.

If you're really keen, go 15s. Tyre choice is excellent (well, it's certainly better than 16s) and you can still get decent brakes under a 15.
how would that happen? are you talking about the outer diameter of the tire? that has nothing to do with the rim diameter.

Of course it's related. If we're talking about track wheels are tyres, 15s are generally 580ish diameter, 16s 610, 17s 640, 18s 680.

Yes you can get odd ball sizes, 21-61/17, which would be the same overall as a 21-61/16, but equally you can probably get a shorter 16.

i thought it was pretty obvious that he is referring to street tires since a)he is mentioning street tire measurements b)he is talking about sidewall stiffness so its likely not referring to cantilevered tires and c)he mentions road and tracks tire comparison that used street tires.

I'd love to go with the enkei's but sadly they are way too expensive over here in the uk.

Ya. I was looking to get opinions on summer performance street tires (and wheels) that would also be somewhat good for track performance.

I'm not looking for hardcore track only performance yet.

Also I have no plans to boost the induction on my FR-S at this time. So I don't think I'll need a 9" wide tire or cantilevered tires. Seems like added weight and cost that's unnecessary at the 200hp stock set up. Opinions?

I'm thinking 17x8" wheels @ a 48mm or 30something mm offset (and summer performance street tires) might be the way to go. Opinions?

Again, I think 18x8" wheels look way cool, but I'm hesitant to spend a lot of money on hula hoops that slow down the car just to look cool.

My purpose is street, but I'd like to enhance looks, track, and street capabilities a bit without going too hardcore.

Kinda baller / racer on a budget style.

To me you are describing Enkie's RPF01's. 16LBS for 17x8 which should be good for 225-245

it seems like you understand the technical benefits of the 17s on the track, street, and wallet. who are you trying to impress with balling rims? i would venture that anyone worth impressing (outside of the ladies i guess) would appreciate the 17s as a commitment to what we believe the purpose of this car is.
