Based on the marketing materials, I think it might be March 15th (at the latest). That's when Subaru claims the model year 2013 BRZ will be on subaru.com - to me, that means you'll be able to build one and see the price. Maybe we will even find out a little before then.

I wouldn't be surprised they use the New York Auto Show for a price release. It's been a reoccuring theme for this car. Damn these price predictions for the BRZ. It's making me worried about pricing for the FRS.

That 'ready for March 15' snippet seems the least un-plausible* info about pricing/more info I've read about it quite some time. *At this point that is as upbeat as I can get about BRZ/FRS info ;-) |

We will know pricing by end of this month for reals on both the FR-S and BRZ. BRZ probably on March 15th, and FR-S probably around the NY autoshow. The first BRZ will arrive in mid may and the first FR-S will arrive by mid june. The first 86 FR-S arrive in mid may. |

I'm guessing here, but I have a feeling SOA/Scion have a general ball park for what they want to price both of these cars. They are using pre-orders/etc. to fine tune the pricing down to the dollar. I think it's obvious that they know that these two cars are very very very price sensitive, especially with the amount of competition around that price point. All we can do now is hurry up and wait...

We need to wait.
For a few reasons IMO launch timeline between FR-S and BRZ launch could be more than just a few weeks. Much more. When I was putting my deposit for a BRZ in the early January, sales manager and I had a chat about 'Scion on US market vs Subaru' subject. At that time he told me that Subaru is fighting with Toyota about Scion's launch and they hopped that it would never come to US in the first place. Not under Scion badge anyway. Now, that we know Scion made its way, I'm sure they will do everything possible to extend the delay for FR-S as much as possible just to make sure BRZ sales will not flop. After all, customers look at the final price and FR-S is going to drag car price down simply because its Scion. My biggest speculation is that FR-S guys are up for a major disappointment, when Scion announces the price. I suspect that it will be much higher than everyone is hoping for (much higher than 21-23K range). Other scenario - price will be Ok-ish, but wait list and car availability (outside of promotion batch) will be ridiculous, so in reality for at least 2-3 month there will be only BRZ on the market. Again these are my speculations based on my discussions with the manager and after looking at BRZ vs FR-S news, launch timeline, pre-oder status for the past month or so. |

Subaru has said repeatedly that the BRZ will start around 25K.
Considering the FR-S doesn't come with HIDs or Nav, it'll probably start at 24K. |
