Some jackass in a truck almost backed into me at a light on my way home from work He started going before the light went green but I couldn't see the light so I just start going too... he slams on his brakes, as do I.. then proceeds to reverse :| Luckily this wouldn't have been the first time that has happened so I was on the horn before he hit me...

Would've been a bad night :| But I got home and made some modifications to the car: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...80#post1472525

Has anyone done a tour with clubsportiva.com? I'm interested in getting myself and BF the exotic tour package. If so, how did you like it? And did anyone notice that they have an FRS for rental? Lol

Same thing happened to me, although it was an Explorer. I realize that my roof was just about as high as their tail-gate, so I've since started leaving ~1.5 car lengths when following tall vehicles, specially those lifted trucks. Oh, and nice LEDs

My wife bought me an "exotics package" for my bday a few years ago. The group itself is very professional and very cool people (I think the owner also owns Lemans karting). Although it was pretty exciting sitting in a Ferrari/Lambo/Jaguar/etc. they do have a "chaperone" on the passenger seat at all times and have you drive in a "parade" configuration, following a lead car. I did get to do a few harder-than-usual pulls a few times, which was pretty fun, hearing all the commotion in the mid-engine and getting to pull on those paddle shifters, but again, that was left to the discretion of the chaperone. Overall, it was a fun "I can honestly say I drove a (insert exotic)" but that's about it. To be honest, I have more fun driving my own BRZ at a slower pace with half the power.

Interesting points. Having a passenger like that could be a buzz kill and make you even more nervous about driving a car worth so much money.

depending on the price, you'll have more fun renting a car for the day. last year i had a gallardo LP560-4 for a day and took all the back roads i could from santa clara back to the oakland and beat the crap out of it too. only down side was the ac was broken and rental was limited to 100 mile range so i opted for pickup which was cheaper than adding miles.

^This. My wife and I actually played with the idea of renting the Jag E-type or the Porsche 550 spyder for our wedding, but could not swing it because of the 100 mile limit (would have had to transport it on a flat bed to the central valley and back). We ended up borrowing a 57 Chevy from a very good family friend, which was just as awesome (learned to drive three-on-the-tree manual transmission )

a few years ago a friend of mine did the exotics tour thing with a very small group including his sister. It was so small that they were thinking of canceling it as they barely had enough people to drive the cars. My friend talked them into extending a deep discount to a few family members who were on the scene and off they went, 6 drivers in 6 cars, no chaperone. He described it as a fantastic experience sampling all those cars, up until the point where his sister, right near the last tight turn of Hwy 9, took it too fast and slid the car she was in (Elise) off into the foliage. Thankfully she was ok and there was actually only minimal damage to the car. Also thankfully, she had opted to buy the optional insurance coverage through the company. From everything my friend told me, the folks there were very nice and everyone was having a great time up until the crash. Of course, it may very well be this exact situation that resulted in them moving to the chaperone in your car policy.

Moral of the story though, unless you plan to drive like a grandpa, buy the insurance!

Check Groupon.. they have a ton of touristy type stuff that's fun. Got all sorts of options so you can decide depending on what mood you're in.

Also, it's probably not as cheap as you're looking for, but try a Segway tour of SF.

SF Sketchfest is going on for the next few weeks in different locations, my wife and I are checking out Key & Peele this weekend. A drive along the coast is always a good cheap option, if you don't mind the weekend crowds. Also, off-the-grid is going on all over the bay, if you're into the food truck thing, I personally think they are over hyped/priced, but I have my favorites.

Here's hoping for you guys that Key & Peele do better than they did at Comedy Jam. They got booed for 15 min til they finally had to walk off the stage. :banghead:
