If dude's car can't do 140 with the engine HE had in there... it's not the car's fault. (well.. maybe the gearing, but..)

I think Toyota needs a new target-demographic research method.

They don't have to. They should just give a very promising lightweight sport coupe, 2.0L boxer with 200hp on the wheels, then everyone will be happier than age demographic.

I'm 20 and hoping that this car remains to the specs of what everyone think it should otherwise there are plenty of other options for me to choose from.

BTW, my Yaris can definitely do 130. Kind of scary to do but definitely can do 130. At least downhill...Also that's where my speedometer stops.

Yeah, I don't care who they market this thing to. If the car itself is what it's been expected to be, I want it. If it's marketed to my age group and it sucks, I don't.
End.

Toyota should worry a little less about slicing and dicing their demographics and a little more about making the best possible car. Sometimes it's hard to believe this is the same company as 25 years ago.

ill be 22 then. maybe its a marketing thing?

in my entrepreneurship class, we talked a bit about marketing. one of the things companies do is market for the "age 35 demographic." it makes the product seem classier and more mature for younger people and somewhat cooler for the older people and baby boomers who dont want to grow up. so instead of marketing it for 16 year old ricers (aka scion commercials), theyd market it more maturely. maybe, maybe not?

i wonder how this car will fit along side corvettes, chargers, and now camaros as the mid-life-crisis-mobile of choice.

Whatever. I know how mine will fit along side them in speed. It'll have me in the driver's seat.

I'd be inclined to believe that they would not so much market the mid-lifers, but more on the mid-to-late 20's, young working professionals.

They surely have to change their routine marketing methodologies. It is hard to believe that a company of such stature is still going on through those old methods. They have to revamp their target orientation to produce and market their products.
