Sorry, couldn't resist.

You still seem to be making an excuse based on something that you haven't even experienced yet (crickets), and I am willing to bet you think its a lot worse than it actually is. Most of us have either gotten used to it, they have faded with time or E0 gas, or the more obsessive of us keep getting pumps replaced. All for something that mechanically has no effect on the car.

EDIT: Yes, I know Baltimore is getting hit hard by the storm that is burying the east coast in snow right now. Hopefully you guys are safe and my sarcasm is carrying through well enough there.

I thought the new pump comes with the insulation? Isn't that what's new about it? Or was the insulation added after the Oct. fuel pump?

I want what you have!! I want some insulation! lol

Its additional outside insulation, and it is working extremely well as I got crickets in 30 degree weather and 80 degree weather without the added insulation on the new pump.

Where did you get the insulation put on at? Subaru of Georgetown act completely clueless about the crickets. I need to go where you've been going!

I've almost forgotten to listen for the crickets, and with the windows up during the winter, I've barely noticed them.
No, if a 30k new car is going to sound like that after a few thousand miles it just means I expect more from my money then you do. If I bought a car after I was made well aware it had an unfixed issue like this, I'd be no different then a lemming. Don't generalize my intentions to sooth your short comings.
Both my desire for this car and my concern for those going through this issue are genuine.

I'm right there with you. Look how long I've been on this site...I've followed this car since it was a concept some thought would be an mr2 or supra. I saved, went by the dealership every weekend watching the various models. Waiting for this issue to be taken care of. I could even live with creaks and rattles, but these engine noises need to go. I hate to say it, but it's prob time for me to move on too. Good luck with your new car choice. For those with this issue, thank you for your honesty over the years, good luck and I hope scion/Subaru will fix the issue before too much longer.

I'm still worried about the fuel injector issues.

Both this and the crickets are a major concern.

I already know of two owners who sold their FRS because of these issues.

People who are paranoid about these petty issues should just get rid of their car. I've owned mine since Nov 2012 and haven't had a single issue except chirping and even then, that's just an inconvenience. I'm modded, and tuned.

Oh and just an FYI, might want to hold off on the outer pump insulation. Crickets came back this morning with a vengeance in the parking garage when I arrived at work. It's about 38 degrees outside as well. They were pretty noticeable more than the normal muffled sound. Pretty much sounded like I had no insulation and I checked to make sure it was still on and it was.

Back to the drawing board...

I get to give me feedback to Toyota again to see what the next "plan" is.

For $28k I got a car that handles well in multiple weather conditions, is fun to drive, and I smile a little every time I get in it. The crickets don't bother me and are not affecting the car AFAIK. I would agree with you if the fuel pump chirps were similar to the DI seal failure issue, but its not. What you are stating is the equivalent of throwing out the baby with the bath water--letting one minor annoyance, not even a true "issue" as you put it, spoil what is otherwise a fun driving machine. I would say that is pretty specific, no?

And please, enlighten me on my short comings. This I have to hear.

oh, No!!!! I got the new pump last week. But I still have about 4 gallons of E free in my tank. I was thinking if the pump wouldn't work I should do the insulation as yours. Now seems I might have to go back to get the E free gas for a long time... Hope not....;(

It was pretty consistent for several tanks of gas, but man, this morning was awful. I just want to get the ball rolling on a completely different fuel pump. They need to get a different company making them instead of Champion.
