I"ll keep the change up to date.
But i really cant' believe how quiet my car is without the chirping sound.
Just give it some time. It will chirp again.

This issue has kept me from purchasing an frs, despite wanting one really bad. I actually stopped at a light on the way into work Thursday and heard this loud noise that sounded like an old engine with a belt loose. I looked back expecting to see an old jalopy and there was a beautiful frs...so heart breaking. It really makes me wonder why toyota would allow this to occur without remedy. It almost leads me to believe they will can the scion version on the next gen frs move it to toyota and do their own engine....thus no desire to fix this one......just seems they wouldn't want to lose sales if they planned to keep this around for 3 more years. Sheesh, I can't remember the last time a toyota/scion was listed as unreliable by consumer reports. I'm so sorry you guys are going through all this.

Crickets definitely are not a deal breaker...just more of an annoyance. I'm in no rush to get it fixed...it would just be nice to be chirp free. Until then I'm still enjoying every day with my ride!

If the crickets are keeping you from purchasing this car...then you don't really want one, IMO.

I've almost forgotten to listen for the crickets, and with the windows up during the winter, I've barely noticed them.

Can you give us which part numbers they used for the replacement parts?

The new pump is not worth getting, whether it chirps at 250 miles or 4000 miles. The pump insulation is the best attempt at a fix yet.

Even when I try to hear them, they're much quieter and in most cases, I cannot hear them.

It's on the forum.

For your reference, 09-54-12R2 was the TSB # for the part I got.

I have a few thousand miles on my car with the newest pump and still no crickets. I either got lucky, or this one actually works.

It is a shame. I've been waiting about a year for this issue to get resolved before pulling the trigger on a BRZ. Not waiting any longer - getting a 2014 Mazda 6. (The BRZ was going to be my mid-life crisis car, the 6 is much, much more practical).

Sounds like you were looking for an excuse not to buy the car as well. Glad that you got your mid-life crisis resolved, though

Quite the opposite: While the car is very impractical (insurance-purposes- only back seat, premium fuel required, possible issues with winter driving in Baltimore) I wanted the car because it is GORGEOUS.

Guess I gotta find me a trophy wife now.
