I don't understand all the hate. I, for one, welcome the news, even though I definitely plan on getting the coupe. It'll be a good-looking car, for sure, but yes, probably heavier and not as stiff as the coupe. But if rigidity and light weight are your concerns, guess what? The coupe will still be there.

Agreed... It's like saying "Damn, why does Baskin Robins have to offer MORE than ONE flavor of ice cream!?!?! Everybody should be happy with Chocolate..." It sounds ridiculous in that context.

The more versions of the car means.... the more versions of the car, more cars sold, more options, more parts. That's a win-win situation. Think of the 90's civics and integras as a comparison. There are a million options for those cars.

Also, the convertible could be a good replacement for the late S2000.

If that really was a test car and not a fake I wouldn't buy it just because of a beige interior.

There's a slight chance that a convertible can have a lower CoG while the roof is folded though.

Have you looked at Z3 M Coupes? Because if you really want to scratch the shooting brake itch, it's your best option.

I don't generally buy German, especially used. But yes, that is EXACTLY the itch I want to scratch.

I honestly don't see how this will sell with the MX-5 already here...The only thing better about this is the slightly more masculine looks. It don't make sense.

And if they want to do a GRMN hybrid with respectable power, would the FT86 platform really work? The engine bay is quite small...I guess they could turn the rear seats into battery storage and stuff some electric motors there while they're at it.

I have no problem with subaru/toyota making it a convertable to attract more customers. That said, I will highly avoid the vert like the plague. I always viewed convertiables as for women or balding old men. Sorry to those that like them, this is just the image I see in my head and I can't shake it. Plus the added weight, and worse handling is always an issue.
