Back when I worked for Pontiac, the current model order cutoff was usually the first or second week of June. New models came in usually in August but couldn't be sold until Oct. 1. That has since changed and with cars being shipped by boat, those dates seem reasonable.

meh if it's the same car who cares? Are people really looking to sell their 1 year old car and worried the next model year is going to diminish its value even though it is the same car?

I wouldn't hold your breath. Just buy the car already, and enjoy it.

People bought 10 series, only for a monogram to come out few months later. People buy a monogram, only for a powerboost 2015 to come out. In the words of one direction "the story of my life"

I wonder if they are doing a short production run on the '14's to get back to a more traditional release cycle. You know the new models start arriving in August/September, like other manufacturers.

Timeline getting shakier so either best kept secret or trouble in paradise. Based on my past musings that 18 month buyers are beginning to move on or consider moving on and they need to be convinced to get another 86. Some may consider staying a year longer if a turbo version is announced but not yet available. I think WRX was announced at the 2013 NY Auto Show so maybe that's why we would have early news.
I'm beginning to feel more and more that if a turbo comes it will only be in the Subaru. Scion seems to only focus on bringing their line "up to the trim level" of the Subaru so it would seemt o be that if a turbo is brought in, it will be brought to the Subaru only (which hasn't had any trim changes) and MAYBE it will be offered as an accessory to the FRS. If that's the case, we may see a turbo in 2015 because FRS will have already had 2 trim packages (or is that 3...Release Series same as Monogram?) by them and they need to continue to differentiate between the two. The real point I can see driving against a '15 turbo or new engine is that Subaru is too focused on the WRX marketing/sales promotions right now. |

Looks like the cut off date and build date is following Mr. Tada's plan.
