2014 ORDER CUTOFF & 2015 START-UP DATES

http://www.us.leaseplan.com/pu/enUS/..._startup-dates

Found this from google, not sure if this is reliable.

2015 Order Date - May 12, 2014?
Production Start - June 30, 2014?

If this site is correct, we should know more detail about the 2015 model within 4 months. What do you guys think?

GUYS WILL IT HAVE THE TURBOS??!?!?!

It would be interesting to see such a short run of 2014s. By my count, we had some 18 months of 2013 models (April 2012 through October 2013), and if your dates are correct, we'd only be seeing 8 months of 2014 production.

I'm not surprised that the twins got released in spring 2012 as a 2013 model, but it seemed kinda goofy to me that they waited so long to introduce a 2014. I had friends with brand new 2014 Subarus months before the 2014 twins even started production. And it's not like they made significant changes - the radio change takes all of 10 minutes, the 2014 FR-S kneepads were already in the factory on the GT86, and the BRZ airbag can be replaced in 5 minutes without even using a screwdriver (it's spring loaded pins holding it in) and swapped for the new blue emblem one. It's not like they had to retool the factory - the 2013 to 2014 changes were probably less significant impacts to the factory than most of the TSBs that got implemented during the 2013 production run.

Not believing we will see much in the way of changes. If the threats of new RWD coupes from Nissan Kia and others had come sooner we might be getting the turbo. Unless Toyota has lit a fire under Subaru's ass again, I don't think so. Subaru has always been slow to change and keep up with competitors.

If I were to fantasize, there would be both a turbo coupe and a Cross Sport offered.

I thought 2014 production began at the beginning of August, although BRZ production may have started in Sept. My 2014 BRZ was built in Sept.

It looks like one month earlier for 2015s then. I suspect the variance comes from simply planning all the work needed to change over. For example, you can't change over the model year if the manuals can't be updated in time because your manual people are busy.

You found the info from Google? Oh goodie, you know it has to be true.

if you buy a car now then it will be obsolete in 3 mo?:(

Havsie 01-18-2014 12:42 AM

I doubt there will be any changes to the 2015. This is Subaru after all, they can't even put a new motor in their halo car which is still using a powertrain developed during the George H.W. Bush era.

The same way when I bought my '13 BRZ this summer and its now 2014 so technically yes it will be "old" but obsolete no. Just a different date on the door tag and your insurance card. If anything by buying a 2013 now theoretically your property tax/insurance should be less than someone buying a 2014. If your unsure just wait and see if there are changes you may or may not want. There is not going to be a rush like there was in the beginning.

I hope they don't have a significant change... or else Imma regret my 1 month old FRS LOL

Speedoponic 01-18-2014 05:28 AM

rofl... That would be something. I doubt we will see any major changes up until the 2016 or 2017 model. Even then, there is no point waiting. More power can be had through aftermarket parts.
