If I may I'm going to take a stab at clearly saying what is and is not locked. If I'm wrong I'm sure shiv will clarify.
.dev file tells the oft how to generate a set of tunes appropriate to the car and puts them in the OFT memory slots. These tunes are tied to the devise and cannot be removed or altered, but they can be overwritten. .bin files are open and can be copied over a .dev generated tune. Currently there are stage 1 and 2 and e85 tunes available for everyone. These will remain available and continue to be updated. Down the road there may be tunes that are not and never will be open. Carb certified tunes for example would have to be locked. If some company makes a tune available for their supercharger and want to allow OFT users access they may choose to lock it to preserve the warranty or something. Those tunes will only be made available by .dev file. I see no reason to make normal 1,2,e85 updates only available in .dev when it's all free anyway. The OFT isn't just a cable. It can check and clear codes. It can data log and they are expanding those capabilities. Also none of this impacts the ability of end users creating their own .bin files and sharing them. Some dude comes up with a great tune for some specific mods and makes it available you can get it and try it. I hope that helped. |

If anything ecutek users owe shiv and all the guys at brzedit and romraider a big "thank you" for helping ecutek open their doors. The more open platforms the better the tunes the better our cars will be. Maybe I'm just a sap, but the economist in me absolutely loves all this and I am a FAN of the people making it happen.

I think that the language barrier didn't help me, I wanted to be a bit provocative but It seems like from your point of view some of what I wrote has a more deep meaning that I could imagine.
Apologize. |

I haven't been following the OFT threads for awhile...so please excuse my ignorance. Are the Australian delivered 86 ROMs supported with the latest v1.50 tune?

I believe australian ROM's for BRZ/86 are supported on current 1.34 and 1.42Beta tune files, so suspect they will also be supported in 1.50 when its released |

Hell, you could even take Shiv's maps altered or not and flash them with a Tactrix cable. You'd be taking a hell of a risk using beta software to load code onto your car which you haven't confirmed for yourself, but Shiv isn't doing anything to stop you from doing that. FWIW I have everything I need to use Shiv's works without paying him a penny for it, and today I ordered an OFT/OFH combo anyways, because I know it will be more useful. |
