IMO, 245's already look plenty wide on these cars (especially up front!). If you want 305's get a big v8 muscle car
And your opinion is just that. Slamming a car on the ground is overkill, loud exhaust is overkill, widebody kits are over kill, big wings are over kill. But why do we do it? Because its our cars and we can do what we want to our cars and express ourselves through our cars. I like big tires so that's what I put on.

For all those wondering there is still plenty of clearance all around and I could put a 285 on there and maybe even a 295 with fender rolling.

Yeah derp 275 is overkill for 200hp, but if you have 400 or 500 hp like a lot of people do, if anything 275 might be UNDERkill. It doesn't matter what kind of car you have, if you make more power you need wider tires plain and simple. " If you want 305's buy a big v8 muscle car " has to be one of the most mindbogglingly idiotic statements ive heard on this forum, and there's been a lot of dumb comments on here.

Why cant people wrap their head around people making big power in these cars? Because its " meant " to be used for autocross? Scion and Subaru gave us these cars to do what we want with them, build our own dream car. Let people have their dream car and do what they want with them.

Tire compound >>> tread width. A much narrower good sticky tire will get way more grip than a wider mediocre tire.

Like I said, if you're doing it for the look then that's your call, but if you're after grip and performance a hugely wide tire isn't the answer.

I'm lowered 2" on stock struts. Do you think they will hit the spring perch?

here is what that looked like:

those are sumitomo HTR Z III 275/35/18 they are middle of the range as far as width. i know Starspecs run really wide so do michelin PSS. if my sti wasn't hit, i was going to step up to the same sumitomo's but in a 295/30.

however, anything bigger than a 255, as long as it's a good grippy tire will be over kill for the brz. i plan on doing 9.5' wide all around with a 255/35 PSS tire. adding so much rubber will make it a purely momentum car, and it'll struggle to really turn it. by saying change the way it drives, the car will not rotate as easily, so you really will have to turn in and hammer the gas to get it right. you dont want to simply slap on maive tires in the rear and keep something skinny in the front either, a nice square setup will be perfect for this car. just do a start spec or a michelin PSS in a 255, trust me those run wide.

this bug eye is running a 255/35/18 starspec on 18x9.5 +38 works...look how meaty it looks:

jut remember, when it comes to tires its not the width aspect that counts, but its compound and the actually contact patch you put down. bigger doesn't mean more contact...

can anyone tell me the name and model of the tire seen above?

seems like any post longer than 50 words these days needs a TL;DR at the end.

I blame Reddit.

That's a road course tire. I need a drag radial.

I'd go with 255/35/18's. But the widest tire you "could" fit IMO is a 285/30/18. Depending on offset and camber of course.

Does anyone think these would fit on the rear with stock struts and 1" drop?

thread necro!

the BFG probably wont fit if theres any possible chance of it hitting with a street tire. the bfg drags run wide in general. plus its a pretty garbage drag radial compared to everything else out there. its a 14yr old design now.
