Release Date

I was at the dealer last week, unfortunately due to someone rear ending my tc, and asked when the FR-S was coming out. The dealer told me he had heard the would be getting one some time in March. Hope it's sooner than later.

March as a demo? Or inventory? I assume a demo.

Australian Release date of Toyota 86

Fellow 86 enthusiasts,

Just a quick message to state that we in Australia have a release date for the 86.

As we in Australia write the date in the format of day/ month/ year, it makes a lot of sense from a marketing point of view, that the launch/ release date is:

8th of June, 2012!!!

8 / 6 / 12

I am not implying that I am high up in Toyota, but I do work for a dealership, and I have quite a few contacts who do work directly for Toyota; all of who have confirmed this.

There are also a few details that I can confirm for AUSTRALIAN models (only), as I have been given SOME official specs, directly from Toyota.

I, like all other 86 enthusiasts, am keenly looking forward to this release!

Thanks, Busternick01

I don't think it would be too far fetched for scion to make the release date June 8th also. They already had the "First 86" promotion, so I wouldn't be surprised if they stick with it.

I agree and it still technically in the spring.

The BRZ will be mid to late may.

if subaru manages to release the brz before the frs, then subaru is going to have a huge sales advantage. since these cars are so similar, i'm guessing a lot of frs buyers will just buy the brz if it ends up coming out first.

I don't think the BRZ is going to be readily available to buy on a whim. From the rumors that we're getting it sounds like they'll be pretty hard to come by during the month or two that the FR-S isn't released.

I don't think so, unless they have put down a refundable deposit for both cars, because I have a feeling that most if not all allocated BRZ's are already spoken for with preorders....actually I can see the opposite happening, if Scion has a larger inventory, someone initially puts down a deposit on a BRZ, but has to wait several months due to allocation, may decide to jump ship to Scion, if they are readily available

that may be true. but the preorders are fully refundable, and we know for a fact that people will back down. only time will tell i guess. it would be interesting to see the distributions between frs and brz owners 2-3 years down the road.

Yep, if the price is jacked up or just plain off, you will have many who will fold, but if the price lines up like we are all hoping, I think the number of people who back down will be small. Distribution will be very interesting...like a comparison broken down by persons age will be interesting...time will tell.

I was actually going to post something tonight, but the july 8 date jives with everything I've heard. I spoke to my scion guy today and he told me he hadn't had any orders in yet, but, he would get me in on the first allocation in june.

Because the car is called "2013 Scion FR-S" doesn't that mean a June release date seems reasonable?
