Customer Service.
Yeah I service my own car, I never trusted them after they almost burnt up my clutch on my last car trying to get it on the rack and killing it 8 times in the process. :/ Guy driving it even had a manual lol, guess he couldn't handle a racing clutch lol. Nothing quite like clutch engagement 1/2 in off the floor board

In fact if there is a service that needs to be done to my car that I don't have the tools for I go to a local tuner shop to get things done because they will treat your car better than most stealerships will. Also, they understand how to park lowered cars and you can't just pull forward until your tires hit the concrete stops.

I would be upset if I had just installed a lip and something like that happened. I would ask for the next oil change to be free or something small that would compensate for a small amount of damage.

I also do my own oil changes; but this problem was a warranty related issue.

I wish I could just take the head unit off and give it to them instead of having them taking it off...

But that itself would cause another conflict and they will say because you took it off, the warranty is now void... Which I can totally see happening Lol

Yeah well at least your warranty issue was something small and not DI seal failure, ect... Try to look on the upside of things. I got one of the first 1000 production fr-s' and I'm happy I walked away with no warranty issues (except from the squeaky windows but i refuse to go to the dealership and leave it there for anything longer than an oil change.)

I went in for the free oil changes, and i was a bit worried when the guy took it out of the garage bay and went the long way around the back parking lot for a spin. I didn't hear engine revving or tires screeching so I was ok with it. I usually stand there and watch them work on my car.

Yes I'm THAT guy that wont wait in the waiting room and will stare at you working on my baby lol.

Those parts are not officially sold in the Canadian or US markets, so they would not be considered OEM aftermarket. You can verify this by having them look up the actual part numbers in their database. It won't exist (hence, they can't warranty a part number that doesn't exist in their system). That's just the nature of importing parts not available in your home market; everything you bring in is considered grey market parts not sanctioned by SoA/SoC(?).

As far as the actual damage is considered...I don't see a problem with it. The fact is you'll most likely scrape it more in the future...it just happens (mine is all scratched up on the bottom). The lip can take quite a beating anyways. While mine is scratched up, it has not deformed in any way and the only time you actually see it is if your face is to the floor. So while the lip kit IS expensive, it's just realistic to assume its going to happen. The way I see it, better the lip gets scratched up, which can easily be removed and replaced, then scratching up your actual bumper.

Now, with that is mind, the fact that the dealer refuses to admit fault is the real problem here. Hopefully you get something worked out.

This stuff is frustrating, I know! I have worked at a Subie dealership under two different management regimes that were polar opposites. Here is how they would've gone about it based on past experiences (including a few that were personal)

I am confident that nearly any large dealership, regardless of quality of customer relations, would not have disclosed this type of damage unless confronted or forewarned. We just don't, we're in a hurry, trying to put comida on the table et al. Hell, when I bought my BRZ, I saw them scraping cats along the curbs pulling NEW cars into dealerships ( I can see a dent on my catalytic converter too- oh well gonna happen anyway right!?). Big business is big business, I guess.

Management A-

"Oh, We are so sorry. Here is a refund and a voucher for free service for your next 3 visits valued up to $500. We hope to serve you for many years!"
This is great for the customer-- but guess who often takes the brunt of this! The low-paid mechanics who end up getting screwed on pay/ told to do the work for free b/c the dealership doesn't want to take the hit. Not always what happens, but is what I have seen.

This guy invests in the customer- hoping to get return customers and referrals

Management B-
Incredulously: "How could you accuse our dealership of such an atrocity. I stand by my men's work! Get the F*** out." Most mechanics stand to benefit from this guy's style.

This guy knows that he may lose a customer and his friends but most of his service comes from 30 something moms and AWD junkies so he's willing to say bye-bye to a Modded car (dealerships tend to HATE modded cars: PITA!) SVC is good for this dealership and they couldn't care less.

I'll be the one to determine if I've wasted my time or not.

Stop wasting your own time by replying. That's all I will have to say to you; I've already heard and acknowledged your opinion.

OP did you install the under lip protector? I can't see that clearly from your pix. If not I wonder if it would have helped.

http://www.sti.jp/parts/catalogue/br...60204S291.html

Forget complaining to Subaru Canada they will just tell you that the dealers are independently owned and operated and it is none of their business (been there done that, my dealer won't even equip my new BRZ with the proper manuals and GPS card so I paid out of pocket to save me some grief lol). Sometimes I wonder why I even bothered with extended warranty.

This type of carelessness and lack of attention to detail is pretty typical of Canada after living here for over two decades, in a lot of other fields that deal with aftersales services be it cars or even high end mechanical watches. I have tons of these horror stories myself lol! This is not like Hong Kong where most of the time things are done right the first time.

The damage is underneath. I would just get a comp for the next visit or something if it were me. The lip will get scratched at the bottom some day.

No shit.

Yes, it will get scratched at the bottom some day, but it should be OP that does it, not a random retard from the dealership.

Your logic. Where is it?

The logic, my friend, is that it should not be that big of a deal. As stated in my post, as long as it's compensated one way or another, it's ok. If not, then it's a different story. Had it not been parked over the curb where it's real obvious that it would have been scratched, would the OP have checked underneath? People are quick to sue and get free shit for just about anything nowadays.

Get your panties out of a bunch, would ya? What would you course of action be?

The logical course of action is to have the dealer order a new STI front lip for OP.

Don't break others' shit. If you break it for some reason, replace it with the same shit.

If you don't get that, not sure what to tell you.
