Roof spoiler issues

I applied my roof spoiler, fitment was great. I made sure that 3m tape was on stuck on there. Used a heat gun to make sure it cured. Made sure the surface was clean. Regardless of all the work. This morning i found more than half of the spoiler hanging in the air. Anybody know how to get the 3m tape reapplied so i can reinstall my spoiler.

even you think the surface is clean, probably it still has wax on it. you will have to use wax and grease remover to clean it, then apply adhesive promoter on it before peeling off 3M tape and put your spoiler on.

I have no problem getting new tape, i just dont know how to reapply it to the tape to the spoiler.

Most tape applications need to be done during warm days because the "curing" is not instant. If you apply it and heat it but then a couple hours later you go out to the wet and relatively cold of our area it's probably not going to stay together. I think it needs to be installed in a 60 degrees or higher.

Good news is that I found out what kind of tape you need: 3M™ Acrylic Plus Tape Series EX4000

Bad news is that you still have to warm up the surfaces then apply in a kinda warm environment (garage) for a couple hours. He said the trick is that both surfaces need to be warm, but "for the love of pete don't use a heat gun on the paint job". I laughed when he said that. He recommends using a couple heat packs. I thought that was a very ingenious solution.

Yep. Heat it up to about 55 degrees. And but make sure you heat to the surfaces. That's the most important part.

How long does the car hsve to sit afterwards?

If you can find a white board remover cleaner use that. It will rough up the wax. Mine stuck on and wont even budge My 5ax spoiler on the other hand.... quite sure i'll need to take it off and re apply that...

Overnight in your garage. Let's summarize and give you more details:

1. Clean well with goo gone.
2. Use some hand warmers or heat pad and warm of the surfaces.
3. After the surface feels like it's over 70 degrees then install.
4. Use hand warmers and place them on top of spoiler using a soft rag so they do not make direct contact with any paint or finish.
5. Cover with a blanket.
6. It is your turn to crawl under a blanket.

I really liked the hand warmer touch because they last up to eight hours.
