Not ITB's, but just as sexy. This is my old Porsche race car. It was slated for ITB's and Motec but I ended up going with the 50mm PMO carbs.

I wonder how carbs would work on our Subie engines. The 50mm PMO carbs on my old Porsche engine actually made a little more power than ITB's, but were nowhere near as efficient.

Because the fuel evaporating off the walls along the intake path will cool the intake runner, this is actually pretty common where comparing port injection to carbs. If port injectors are moved farther away from the engine the same effect can be achieved. There have been videos of engines setup like this, cooling there intakes to the point that the intake manifold develops ice while the engine is at full throttle on an engine dyno. They could actually get their intake manifolds as cold as Orbitals bed.

I've always been in love with ITB's...for no practical reason.

If I ever do my project of building up a b-series honda, I'm def going ITB's.

i was at tokyo 86 salon (TAS) today, saw that maroon car with ITBs. it was pretty sick. couldnt find anyone around to tell me what kind of performance gains it had. but then i noticed it dosnt have any fluid in any of the resavoirs, so maybe its just for show? the greddy booth had a display going on showing their car doing a 57 at tsukuba. thats getting pretty quick!

EDIT: oh i did my best to photo-bomb some booth girls photos, so if you see a goofy white guy lurking in the background of any booth girl shots, know that its me, haha.

Wow. A more realistic setup. From what I see, you plug the OEM ETC connector on the ITB "module" and it drive the 4 throttle body with the OEM computer and pedal. Really nice. I'm in for that

It almost looks they have an actual oem TB mounted in the centre, likely modified so they can connect the ITB linkages to it.

To do that you would also need to build an air box feeding all four of the ITBs so that you can plumb the MAF into it to meter the air. Otherwise, you would have to do a rewrite of the firmware on a massive scale to switch to alpha-n.

Could you not plumb the MAF to just one of the trumpets and scale/multiply it to suit?

Potential bundy question.
