The fact remains that the supercharger does require power to spin, and it becomes MUCH easier to make more power than you need on a daily driving basis.

It's easily worth the extra fun factor, particularly when lack of power is the ONE thing that everyone and every review harps about.

All true, but we should also take the opportunity to point out to everyone asking about gas mileage that nobody modifying cars with modern components ever sees a DRASTIC reduction in fuel economy simply because there's a turbo or a blower under the hood.

Poorly designed engines along with poorly designed superchargers in the 60s gave us the idea that bolting a blower to a vehicle is going to kill the gas mileage. It's just not true anymore.

Now you get what you should expect. If you drive like an ass through Mira Mesa with your twin screw kit you're not going to be seeing 35mpg.

By the same token if you consistently averaged 30mpg before modding, you're not going to be consistently averaging 20mpg just because you bolted on a blower.

It'll be because you're hauling ass everywhere

For a daily driven car, MPG absolutely matters. It would matter more if it was worse. I have a Vortech S2k with gears that gets 14mpg. Not good for a daily driver. I didn't last a full day at the track last because I ran out of gas on my last session.

I'm just passing on info. Part of my mpg loss compared to stock is the reality that I am driving much more aggressively, I expect to level off in the 25 range.

I drive fairly aggressively with my current vortech setup, 24-25mpg mixed city/highway

To put the above mpg numbers into perspective - Ive been averaging 24-25mpg mixed in a bone stock car.

It doesn't help that I have to wind the piss out of it to get it to move out of its own way.

You understand that if i wanted just more power I would have just buy another car, right?

What's wrong with you asshat writing these statement like you are bringing the words of god upon earth.

I got a gt86 for many different reasons and one is DD.
It's not about money on the immediate, it's a projection in the future
And not being a retard. I live in Europe, I pay 1.867 euro each liter of fuel, do the math and compare it to how much you pay for your fuel. Now if I have to spend more then 500 euro a month just for daily commute to work I just prefer to buy a true race car and a daily beater. This car was the perfect compromises between driving a mommy car or a race car.

Just for your information I had and have already a true race car and if I need seriously more power I just don't drive this car.

@Victor Draken
How about this, something barely scientific for you.

Make more power, it needs more fuel.
The more you use that power, it burns more fuel.
