All my friends up north that had an HOA, and even when I was living in an apartment up there, were prohibited from working on their cars per the HOA rules unless it was an emergency. I would love to find a place that allows one to work on their car but I'm hoping to buy another place next year so I don't have to deal with HOA.

Best of luck.
Installing mods and doing oil changes are always emergencies!

Just do it til you get caught once?

That worked for me pretty good when I back in college.

If I find a place nearby that does not have the restriction, I'll let you come work in my garage... only if you bring over a 6 pack.

Thought about that but I share the two car garage. If it was just a single car garage I would do it with the door closed.

Haha, I did this at my place in Costa Mesa, and someone told the landlord they though I had someone living in my garage lol.

Come to think of it, I did spend more time in the garage than my apartment...

My father in law lives in Lake Forest, as far as I know they dont have restrictions, I do all my car work there. i've seen a guy tear down his transmission right in his drive way quite a few times too

The place is called Trabucco Villas.

Welcome to Irvine! I live in an Irvine Company townhome, and I do all my work in my garage with no hassles. Prolly against the rules, but no one has complained. Also, ++ on Corner3 Garage.

Hey welcome to OC. South OC is one of the best places to live, well i think so. Yeah Corner 3 is the best and closest spot to have your car taken care of. MV where i live doesn't allow repairs or washing of cars. Both of my cars go to Corner 3 for service and as far as cleaning and detailing. i have a detailer in Aliso Viejo and a touch less car wash up the street from me. Congrats and enjoy your new place in Irvine.

Found a place in Tustin. I haven't had a chance to read over the HOA regulation, but I've seen a neighbor working on his Camero in the garage so I'm crossing my fingers.

Where is this touchless place you speak of? Is this place lowered car friendly with wider wheels/tires?

I take my car to Checkered Flag Car Wash in Lake Forest. They have a location in Irvine as well. Full hand wash - none of this partial machine crap. Not sure how lowered/wide they can handle, as mine's stock in that regard.

its in Mission Viejo by the MV animal shelter and home depot. a self car wash in front of home depot. when ya pull into the self wash its the automated wash to your left. its all spray that does a 360 around your car. 8 or 9 bucks. does cars and suvs. lowered and lifted vehicles. just drive between the 2 white lines as u follow the lights and you are set.

Perfect. I've been going to Froggy in Huntington Beach for a while (I currently live in Garden Grove). These touch less wash places are exactly what I wanted to look for. Thanks again for this valuable info.
