So many buzzwords in that press release made me scoff... Advanced Technology, Groundbreaking style???

I feel bad for saying all this since I really want our American car companies to do better.
So do I. Only one I'd support is Ford, even then though I've been hearing negative things.

You do get less than what you pay for, that is why you can't lease a Chrysler or at least you couldn't a few years ago, perhaps it has changed (dealers couldn't make money due to poor resale value). I have seen a few pics of the Dart and it looks good but I say, even shit can shine.

I don't think it'll be a real competitor. Not until they bring out the SRT4 version, that is. I do think it looks good though.

Someone wanting a "sports" car would look at this and say:

"Hmm 4 doors, nice interior, doesn't look bad, turbo, and only $16k"

vs. FR-S

"Hmm 2 doors, no real rear seats, so far okay interior, no turbo, but $20k+?"

I think this is more of a major competitor to the Scion tC

Just read that they're going to be releasing a SRT version of the dart.

http://www.motortrend.com/future/fut...dge_dart_srt4/

Quote:
The base Dart borrows heavily from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta platform, so expect an upgraded version of the Giulietta Cloverleaf's dual-clutch, six-speed transmission to find its way into the Dart SRT4.

The all-aluminum, direct-injection, 300-hp four-cylinder engine that should arrive in the long-awaited Alfa Romeo 4C could be a perfect, though expensive, fit. A turbocharged and intercooled larger displacement version of the Dart's Tigershark 2.0-liter might be a better option.

Price? With a turbo Tigershark, figure close to Focus ST pricing; at 300 hp, it should price well north of that, but just below the AWD VW Golf R and Subaru WRX STI at just over $30,000.

Interesting. another cheap (edit maybe probably not AWD) 300+ hp turbo lightweight sedan is always welcome.

I prefer the looks of the FR-S & BRZ though. Much sexier lines.

But this is at least a huge leap in appearance from the old dodge neon SRT-4.

Well it is a pretty big difference between AWD and FWD.

the neon offered an AWD model too. (edit no it didn't i was thinking of talon)

this really isn't the neon though. it's the same segment in their lineup as the neon. but it's an entirely different car based on an Alfa Romeo.

Chrysler/Dodge is owned by Fiat now.

Looks better than the old neon SRT-4.

I like it. Looks like it may really have the performance to back it up this time too.
