She's a gonner. Man, I'm so sorry to see that happen .

Still, you had stock tires on in the winter and you don't live in FL or AZ, so I can't say that it was unforeseeable. Now, that's a whole $25k gone b/c one didn't spend less than 1/25th of that on proper seasonal tires.

Not trying to bash, man, but I'm not surprised this happened. Still totally sucks and I hope insurance pays out enough for you to replace her.

Btw, OP, how are YOU? Cars can be replaced. You can't.

Edit: as far as to what to replace her with, I'd say get a new 2014 BRZ from Clint @HeubergerMotors

Some GAP coverages give you some money toward a new car....check yours if you had it.

And WE KNOW HE SHOULD HAVE HAD WINTER TIRES EVEN THEY WONT SAVE YOU FROM ICE STOP TELLING HIM ABOUT TIRES FFS.

Bummer way to learn that summer tires and snow don't mix.

Now I'm debating between getting a:
1. New 2014 BRZ ($30k OTD, 3 weeks to transport from CO)
2. Used 2013 BRZ with 4,000 miles and TRD catback ($27K OTD - flying to OH and driving back to NY)
3. A cheap $2K car until Spring (but I'm probably going to hate life for 3 months)

What would you do? My BRZ had 15,000 miles since April 2013 BTW.

Get a Forester, or some other 4 wheel drive car , and get a BRZ/FRS when you move back to warmer climates. I've found that even with all season tires, rear wheel drive is just unstable in the ice and snow. Maybe it would be better with snow tires, but its still only driven by the rear wheels.

Too bad man... if you can pull of your side fender trims I will buy them off you . (if your insurance company will allow you/notice) I have an asphalt FR-S and I am looking for the BRZ trims.

They will notice, insurance companies are sticklers for those kinds of things.

This car should only be driven in the winter with snow tires.

The ass end is loose enough with new ws-70 in a storm. Let alone on no seasons.

get another if it doesn't break the bank and your ins rates do raise too much. I bought mine back, stripping my mods and starting over. I'll wait till spring to buy another just to save up a bit. I had 10k down on mine so that is gone. I'm just hoping I can save as much of my mods as possible. We shall see.

Good luck to you and your not alone. It happened to me and a few others.

I would say get a beater, save up, get another and this time buy the snow tires in September and be ready to have them put on in October

You may even find a deal on them once Winter starts to end. I scored a deal a few years ago on some Firestone Winterforce tires that were on closeout at Tirerack.

Or save your money by getting another BRZ and forget the beater.

Well he said this should be his last winter for needing snow tires (moving). So I was thinking instead of buying a new car and needing snow tires right away, he could get a beater and then buy the BRZ once summer hits and then he is not stuck trying to sell barely new snow tires that he will lose a big chunk of money on. Nobody pays full price for used snow tires. Expect them to be worth about half what you paid if you are lucky.

Ah, okay.

Still, that's a few thousand $$ down the hole for a beater.

I live in a place where we run summer tires year round. Never had to put on winter tires. At most we ran all seasons.
