I have a fairly large oil sample dataset from a single car that would suggest running heavier than 0w-20 is a bad idea. If you want to protect your engine better than the OEM oil, buy a higher quality oil (I recommend Motul 300v) but don't go with a heavier weight!

KTM says only run Motorex. Interesting an Austrian manu recommends a Swiss manu. They do make high quality stuff (oil, their spray grease is the most amazing thing ever) but it is not worth the price. I run Rotella in all my bikes (they call for 15-40 syrup) even the KTM . The oil debate shall continue forever. I will not run Rotella in "EEEK". Bye Bye warranty... |

And now to change the topic, look at my terrible horrible ghetto temporary subwoofer mounting.
![]() ![]() I'm experimenting with how large a system I want to add, so it's all just temporary and I didn't want to mount temporary to the actual car. I'm actually pretty happy with stock and this added enough extra oomph to last awhile. 10", 300w peak, 100w rms, $100 powered subwoofer from Walmart. If you guys are lucky I'll let you sign the board at a meet.

Mark Mitsubishi in Glendale just got in a 2014 Black Evo GSR with the sight and sound package. I did see that they do have some price incentives on it currently.
If you go and check it out, tell them Andrew sent you in.

Don't get upset over it. You seemed pretty sure you were doing the right thing with the thicker oil I didn't think you could be swayed. It is a fact that your motor will fail prematurely from running oil too thick for your clearances. If I can find it I'll donate a kit for uoa so you can have scientific fact about what it causes running thick oil. I have an old jeep with 160k miles that I wouldn't run higher than 10-30 in and that's decently high mileage.

On the flip side, the analysis I've had so far suggest that 10,000+ miles is very doable on this oil, and I don't drive gently. P.S. Don't believe what people say about 300V being a racing oil that can't be run on the street. The data I have shows the additive package is identical to Motul's highest-grade street oil, *but* with the addition of lots and lots of friction-reducing molybdenum (this cannot be added to their street-grade oil as the current API spec does not allow it for environmental reasons). |

@Ninjin if i wasn't going to be likely upping my clearances on my engine and going for a heavier weight i would say we should go in on a barrel of that shit with how fast we go through fluids... HAHA

Do I want to know what that'l cost? lol. I haven't even asked joe what kind of oil we are going to be using for the clearances. I think we are waiting till we tear it down and see how the passages & oil pump is.
