Lol I'm usually speeding. I can't stand slow drivers. Not fond of ppl trying to race me all the time either, it seems I can't drive more than five miles without a kid in a beater or some douche in a BMW trying to prove something.

Mobile 1 has a 0 20 endorsed by Toyota. I don't run anything other than mobile 1 on anything.

Some of the EJ subies (wrx's and STI's specifically) like 10W-40, I know.

But with our engine, I've heard basically that 0W-20 is the way to go here. Nothing wrong with the stock oil either, now that the oem provided oil is now synthetic. There were issues when they were using non-synth 5W-30 in the WRX's and STI's.

I use this, cheap high quality and I get a 15% discount if I schedule a delivery every 5-6 months. Don't buy the hype there is no need to pay more than this.

Just make sure to stick to a 0w20

What weight oil are you on? And have you been doing active oil analysis? Motors are getting tighter and tighter clearances... I would do analysis before switching to anything heavier just to be on the safe side.

You really need to get a used oil analysis to see the damage you're doing to your motor. With a thicker oil it can't maintain a proper film on your moving parts causing premature wear because the oil is too thick.

This thread is quickly going to turn into another oil debate thread.

15-40 is the WRONG oil for this car. Its a super tight tolerance engine that needs a light oil when it starts. Add in the high revs and your pushing your luck

He's been warned and he's gonna do what he's gonna do. I say we start a pool to guess when he has catastrophic failure.

I pay almost that for one quart of the Motorex full synth I run in our bikes...

I'm gonna research this one a little bit.

I say we pool together and buy him an analysis kit and then a 0w20 oil to compare it against. If he is willing to put the heavier oil in and is confident then have him do some tests for us to see if it realistically is safe longer term! I did the same shit on my car... lol. We now know that running stoich @ 5-12PSI is not safe. But apparently it will run a REALLY LONG TIME.
